We don't yet own DVC, but have rented points in the past. We wish to rent again June 4-9. The woman we've rented from in the past is great, but doesn't frequent the DIS boards. She has points for us for June, but there were no studios available anywhere on property. So, we're currently waitlisted at BWV and OKW.

1st question: Why are we waitlisted? This is early, early summer and nothing special seems to be going on except the end of the flower fest.

2nd question: We've never had this experience before...what are our chances of getting a room? Should we wait to buy airfare until it come through? Each day, the pickin's get slimmer on the airfare and I'm so afraid of costs going up because of fuel costs!

3rd and final question: Should we be listed day-by-day as I see discussed here on the boards or as a five-day block?

Thanks for any advice and encouragement!

Two reasons that I can see...(1) - you are looking at gay week at WDW and (2) many high schools and colleges have year end gatherings for their senior classes during the early weeks in June.

Star Wars weekend also...IMO, I'd WL (anywhere) & book a value resort (same price) as a back-up.

As for airfare, if you fly SW you can always cancel & reapply to future flight -good luck.

Reason #3 is that you are pretty close to the travel date.

Yes, the best odds would be to waitlist day by day and piece the reservation together. However, I don't think someone renting points will necessarily want to take the time and effort to do this. There is also no guarantee that you'll get all the nights and soon she'll be into the 30 day penalty window for cancelling what you don't use.

I'd take a look at the rent trade board and see whether someone might be offering the dates you are looking for.

You dates are less than 60 days away. At the 60 day mark, DVC often sends any unreserved rooms over to CRO to rent out to the general public. DVC members still have access to the rooms, but they are competing with the general public for them.

I'm surprised the DVC member was willing to tie up her points hoping a waitlist will come through. Most won't do that.

If your dates are set, my advice is to call the member, say thanks anyway and have her cancel the waitlist. Then make a reservation somewhere for cash.

Best wishes -
