waitlist question (complicated?)

Is is possible to waitlist for a DVC resort if I don't have enough points for all the nights - i.e. 2 nights w/points and one with cash?
Specifically, if I am now booked for 3 nights at one DVC resort but would like to waitlist for another that would require more points than I have (but I'd be willing to pay cash for one of the nights) can I do it? ( I don't have points to borrow either). I thought about renting the points that I need in order to have enough for the 3 nights but if the waitlist didn't come through I'd hate to have rented points that I then didn't need. I hope this makes sense.

You can only waitlist for the nights you have points for. You can ask if you can make a cash reservation for the third night.
