I called this morning to make a change to another reservation. I had 7/8 booked in a a THV and was waitlisted for a standard 1BR at Kidani to match my reservation for 7/9-11 at Kidani. I asked whether MS had a Savannah view available at Kidani 7/8-11. I was told, "No but I have a standard 1 Br available for the night of the 8th only" to which I replied, "That's what I'm waitlisted for." MS was able to make the change.
Don't get me wrong. I was very happy to be able to make the switch, but this really shouldn't happen if it is indeed as "automatic" as MS suggests. This isn't the first time this has happened to me and all it does is make me want to call to make sure that there is no availability on a date for which I have an active waitlist, thus tying up MS and increasing member costs.
