You may remember me posting a similar thread awhile back about a waitlist coming through. That was for BCV, which my DH did not want to stay at. We stayed on the waitlist for VWL and BWV for our upcoming trip 12/18-12/26. We are currently using points at OKW. My DD has asked about staying at the BWV since our July trip, and I told her maybe next year. Well...BWV came through!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: Got the call late this afternoon so all I need to do is call back in the AM and take it. WOOHOO!!!!!

Now here is my question...its a standard view room, which I understand does not overlook the boardwalk. Is this view any good??? Thanks in advance for all your thoughts!!!

Congrats. I got the call today too for our waitlist for 1 extra day for our trip. I actually got two calls within a week on the waitlist.. 1st a night at HH and today a studio preferred view.

I do not know about the view in a standard. This is our first trip home and 1st "Welcome Home". I was so excited when they called today.... SO glad I stayed home from work today!!!! Made me feel much better.....

Enjoy your trip.

Whether the view is good will depend upon your level of expectation. We had a std view in June and we enjoyed it. It overlooked the entry to the hotel. I would definately get std again. We've also stayed in preferred view and I think the point savings for a std make it worth it.

We had a standard view in June, too. I thought it was fine and I really enjoyed sitting on the balcony. We had a view of the entrance.

Congratulations on your waitlist coming through! I've been pleased with the standard view rooms I've stayed in. I enjoyed overlooking the entrance and watching the people come and go. I also enjoyed a standard that actually had a wonderful view of the canal, Swan, and Tower of Terror. I was surprised it was a standard view room, but it definitely was.

For me, the best part about standard view rooms is saving precious points by staying in them instead of a preferred. ::yes::

Until this year, we've always stayed in standard view rooms (this year we trying out the guaranteed Boardwalk view). Have always been pleased.

We request N/S, upper floor across from the bus stop. When we're lucky enough to get our request, we almost always have a nice view of the higher level fireworks and lasers from IllumiNations. The room in this area do overlook the entrance driveway, the bus stop and the convention wing of the BWI with the roof tops of France in the distance. You can also see the parking lots. However, there is lots of very nice landscaping/flowers between the BWV building and the black top. The area is convenient to the bus stop and the path to MGM as well as the quiet pool & Community Hall - just down the stairs and out the appropriate door.

These rooms are not close to the elevators and aren't at all convenient if you are traveling with strollers, wheelchairs or ECVs. You won't always be lucky enough to get a room in this area, but it is so nice when it does work out.

Bottom line: Standard view rooms are a bargain! That's why we BWV owners snatch them up when the 11 month window opens. Consider yourself very lucky to have gotten one - especially for the very popular December timeframe

Best wishes -

Congratulations on your waitlist coming through!! how long were you waiting? You give me hope that my waitlist for Dec 2-5 will come through (for a one bedroom at any resort). Did you waitlist for the whole thing or day by day?

Regarding the standard views, I have stayed in them 3 times and I have loved every room/view I have gotten. I think you will be pleased.:teeth:

I am trying my best to give you a one bedroom at the VWL. Dec1 - 7
I'm on the waitlist for a two bedroom, so maybe we will both get lucky?
But I'm not holding my breath because the VWL is a very popular Resort at anytime but definitely during the Christmas holidays. But best of luck and keep us posted.

Here is some pixie dust maybe, just maybe it"ll help:wizard:

Lexxiefern- I have been on the waitlist since August I think. I asked for BWV and VWL. They called me a few weeks ago about the BCV, but we did not want to stay there. I am so excited this came through. Oh, and we waitlisted for the entire trip, not day by day.

Sending some PD to you that your waitlist also comes through!!princess: princess:

Wow! A waitlist for Xmas week coming through in October? That's great. It's good to know. We're thinking of Xmas 2005.

I'm right with you there, travelbug. The first ressie made is almost always BWV Std View (since it's our home resort), and it's hard to convince ourselves to change bcs it's just so darn convenient, and almost everything else is so many more points.

The view of the entrance or the tennis courts or parking lot is OK with us since we're saving so many points.

Congrats on the waitlist coming thru!

For four nights, I'd spend the points and go with OKW - unless you plan to spend every waking hour in the parks. In that case, I'd keep the room at PoP and save the points.

Big help, huh? :teeth:

Best wishes -

If you decide on Pop, you could send some pixie dust that I get a shot at your Dec. 2, 5 and 6 dates. We have Dec. 3 and 4 and are waitlisted for the other 3 days. If you choose OKW then maybe we'll see each other there!

Thanks! I hope we both get what we want. I have a BWV studio with boardwalk view already for those 3 nights, so if nothing comes through it is okay. But after our trip in sept we decided we would really prefer a one bedroom. No more studios for us!

Good luck to us both!

Our waitlist for a one bedroom at BCV December 6-9 came through last week too.

Good luck to everyone else on their wait lists!
