Waitlist came through-little nervous

OK, I don't want to be that guy. Our waitlist came through for BWV 10/27-10/31. We were booked for SSR. I have stayed at SSR and OKW and know I love both. I swore to myself I would try other resorts, and without the kids is a perfect time to do it. After all the posts that seem to separate the two camps of SSR/OKW and Every other resort on property, I am second guessing my decision to waitlist. I know it will be different, but I'm concerned that the look and feel will be different and not enjoyable.
I know noone can tell me what I will or will not like, but I am so tempted to call and rebook SSR.
Its an AO trip, and we both have a B-day on 10/30 so we are taking advantage of the promotion. I figure we will spend some time at Epcot and DHS since these are not the best for the younger kids. We are thinking of two no park days. I am torn between the access to DTD and the access to Epcot.
I am no expert on the view categories, but it says pool/garden which I assume means standard view. Some recent threads showing standard vs preferred view give me pause for thought as well.

Just venting, but any suggestions on where to stay or similar experiences and outcomes would be welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

I'm having those same feelings for our upcoming trip. DH & I always stay at OKW or SSR, I decided that I wanted to try a different resort for our spring vacation and booked BWV for May 3 - 8. I have been second guessing myself since I booked this. We have decided to go and check it out. I'm sure we'll love the boardwalk. I think my problem is I won't be in my comfort zone and this has caused my worries.

BWV and OKW are my 2 favorite resorts, even though they are very different from each other. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet escape from the theme parks, then BWV is probably not the best choice. But for quick access to lots of activity it is the best. Besides the proximity to DHS and EPCOT we love the entertainers on the BW at night as well as just having a beer or ice cream on the BW while people watching. If you decide to stick with your BWV room, I hope you enjoy your time there. If you stay at BWV and it turns out NOT to be your cup of tea, you will have learned something and will appreciate SSR and OKW even more the next time. Having years of future DVC trips means that it is not the end of the world if every stay isn't absolutely perfect. We have stayed at other DVC resorts and never had a bad vacation, even though we have our 2 favorites. Good luck!

BWV is a great place for adults and kids too. You have some nice dining options right there as well as easy access to Epcot. Pool/garden view is completely seperate from either Boardwalk view or standard view. Standard view looks out primarily over the entry drive/parking areas. I've stayed at OKW as well. All the different resorts have something to recommend them. Our next trip with the kids and grandkids will be at OKW and BCV. We also look forward to checking out BLT at some point- we stayed at the Contemporary about a dozen times prior to DVC. You will have a good time if you let yourself.

I love OKW, tried BWV and so should you..keep your ressie. BWV is a very nice resort for a couples only trip.
we realy enjoyed walking the boardwalk and watching the entertainers. and you will also enjoy the boatrides to and from the parks(unless you like to walk)

try every resort once..I have found different things about each resort i like and dislike.
BCV was my first stay at disney, and I thought that was just amazing and was a bit bummed we didn;t buy there, but then we stayed at OKW and were thrilled we did buy there!! and since then I dont rate BCV as high on my list as I did when I first stayed and had nothing to compare to

I suggest you keep the BWV reservations. We own there and it is our favorite resort (may be biased). You can walk to DHS and EPCOT which to me is a huge plus. Strolling around the Boardwalk is a lot of fun at night and there are some great dining options. Although be forewarned if you are looking for a quick bite to eat, best to head over to Beach/Yacht or Dolphin/Swan.

As far as your preferred view, it is sort of hit or miss. I don’t have a suggestion on what to list as a preference to get a good view. You may want to ask them to locate you near the elevators because it can be a long walk if you are at the end of the resort.

Have fun and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the Boardwalk. The atmosphere is much different than laid back OKW but we love it.

I would keep the ressies for BWV. You will love the proximity to the Studios and walking over to Epcot through the International Gateway, well, can I tell ya, it is one of my fav things to do! Try it, I do not think you will be disappointed! :)

I love OKW but bing at an "EPCOT" resort is definetly a special experiance.

Interesting dilemma. We may be in the same boat soon. We are SSR owners and love the resort. Tomorrow we're trying out OKW and are anticipating a very positive stay since we love the laid back beauty of both of these resorts. We currently have reservations for WLV for mid October (our goal is to try out all of the resorts) and are wait listed for either BWV or BCV. Like you, I'm not sure how we're going to like "the feel" of these hotel-like resorts, but we really would like to have the experience. We can always go back to SSR or OKW on our future trips. (We've also booked AKL-Kidani for this August). The one resort I'm really not sure about liking is BLT. It seems like a little bit too much concrete for me.

I've stayed at all the DVCs and have never had a "bad stay" - although I do prefer some resorts over others.

My one suggestion would be to go ahead and WL again to try to get a boardwalk view - IMHO, it's that view that really "makes" the resort. Another thought is that BCV will give you similar access to the boardwalk area at night and EPCOT, but in terms of room decor it reminds me of SSR. It's also set back from the main concourse, and our room had a very secluded feel to it.

Keep your reservation! Boardwalk is different than OKW and SSR ... but that's the point. DVC would be boring if it was all the same! Enjoy trying something different. Enjoy being able to walk to Epcot and DHS. Enjoy strolling on the Boardwalk and being able to eat at a variety of great restauarants within a 10 minute walk.

What you have is not a standard view. It's considered a preferred view. It is a view of one of the pools or of the canal that runs from Epoct to DHS.

Here is one of my preferred views:

Here is another when I was upgraded from a standard view studio to a HCA studio:

I agree with the above posters..keep the BWV reservation...you're going during F&W....it's great to walk over to Epcot for a snack.....we love being able to walk into 2 parks.....I'd give it a try to see if it's for you or not.

if you enjoy illiuinations - you will love BWV.

instead of walking to your car or the bus - you can walk to your villa in less time.

believe me if nothing else this will sell you on BWV - same for studios.

now you can take the boat - but walking is faster. unless you feet have had it.

no restuarant or counter service in the resort. You must go to the BW to eat. (there are snacks at the pool bar)

OKW is our favorite resort...but we love BWV too! They have such a luxury feel to me. I really feel like I'm staying in a fancy hotel here...I love the lobby and being able to walk out to the boardwalk/Epcot for dinner (and drinks!). I even enjoy the scary clown pool and think it's a fun view to have.

I won't presume to guess whether you'll like it or not but I never discourage people from trying something different.

It's just one trip out of 40-50 years' worth. Few Disney trips are ever complete disasters simply due to a resort choice. You'll still have a good time even if you conclude that BW isn't your favorite.

If you don't like it, you'll know better next time. No sense sticking with the same-'ole, same-'ole until you've sampled a little variety. :thumbsup2

An adult only trip to BWV just wouldn't be complete without an evening at Jellyrolls, which is on the Boardwalk at the end of the BW complex. Non-ending music played with dueling pianos is a blast. Get there early to be sure you get a table and enjoy. Google "jellyrolls" for lots more information. After a fun-filled evening, you can walk (or stagger) back to your room easily. With PI gone, this is the place to be! :cool1:

Try it....try it....try it !!

We are SSR owners and love it there, but have tried all the other dvc's (except BLT and AKV). We love BWV for our adult only trips in the Fall. It is great to walk in and out of Epcot for the Food and Wine Festival.

For us, there is a different reason we like each of the resorts we have tried. The only one we probably won't hurry back to is Beach Club and I really couldn't pin down why. Maybe we should try again.

We love the quiet of SSR and OKW. Sometimes, we book a split stay and have two vacations in one! BWV first for the activity and then SSR or OKW to relax and lay by the pool before heading home.

I love SSR and OKW also but I will say we have enjoyed our stays at BWV and would not hesitate to stay there again. A boardwalk view is truly a wonderful view, you can sit and watch folks on the Boardwalk and also watch the fireworks from Illuminations every night from right there on your own little veranda.
