Waitlist/Booking Question

I am on a wait list for next Friday for a two bedroom or one bedroom villa at OKW. I have been online to see if it has become available about 3-4 times everyday, and usually about twice a day, it shows that the date is available on the Resort Availability Tool. I click to book it and by the time I get to the next page, it's gone. Does the website sometimes say it's available before they give it to the next waitlist member? With this being my last day that the waitlist is active, do people still cancel during the week, and I can just book it that way, or does that usually not happen? I'm starting to become aware that I might not get this date since it's the last night of our trip. I have one night booked at All-Star Sports just incase this doesn't happen.

Wow! I actually just got it! I had to book another reservation for just that night, but I'll see if I can try to merge the reservations. I find it strange that my waitlist didn't generate it though.

Either way....congratulations. I share your dilemma. I'm now under 30 days for our waitlist for my daughter/family. It's her last night and if she doesn't get it, she will have to bunk with us in our studio (ugh). I check about a zillion times a day, or every time I pick up my ipad on sit in front of my desktop....the waitlist runs until 7 days out, but we will be on a cruise after that and will be able to check online while actually already on vacation. I hope it comes through or we can snag it, but I've pretty much feel like it's a lost cause now. Bet you never thought getting one night would be this hard!! I know, it's crazy.

Are you on the wait list? I wish you luck. I feel you though. I just planned this "spontaneous" trip on Tuesday, so getting all of my nights at one resort, I never thought that was going to happen. I originally had three days booked, and booked my split stay at All-Star Sports for two nights. The next day, the 4th night became available, so I had to completely change the reservation at All-Star Sports again. The last night became available online this morning and I snagged it faster than my waitlist could even register that I was waiting for that night. I'm just happy I won't have to waste time transferring to another resort. It makes this next vacation much more enjoyable. I really hope it works out for you!

The waitlist system doesn't always work. In addition, DVC turns over room inventory to CRO starting 60 days from the check in date, that can also affect availability for DVC members.

Yep, been on the waitlist for nearly 7 months now for one stinking night. I would've booked at the 11 month, but had no idea that airfare wouldn't work out for my daughter and family. They had to add several days to get decent airfare. Personally for me, I had booked my reservation at the 11 month window at BWV and one additional day there for her because she had planned to fly home on Saturday, then had to add more days, so I snagged 2 more nights at the BCV, not the same resort, but close enough, just need another night so they don't have to move (or stay with us). I have seen the day before and the day after, the week before and the week after, but so far never seen the day we needed.

I hope things might have worked out for you. If not, have you tried OKW or Saratoga Springs? Those seem to have availability. OKW and Saratoga Springs were the only resorts I can find rooms in with about a week out. Also, keep in mind that you are trying to get a room in the EPCOT area during Food and Wine. That is a high priority area, and most likely might not happen. I might try looking into another resort for that reason. Another option is moving to a value resort for one night. Those seem to always be within a reasonable price range.
