Waitlist and Stalking the DVC Site

Hi.

For those that have had WaitLists and found an open room on their own while they had an active waitlist, how exactly did you go about finding your room online?

From reading, it looks like you go on multiple times a day but does it have to be a computer/laptop? Can this be done on your smartphone too?

I have looked up DVC room availability on my smartphone. But, last week I booked a studio for F&W for 3 nights and could only get SSR. Before I had a chance to call into MS and put in a WL, I kept searching online and, low and behold, a VWL studio popped up (on Sunday afternoon) for our dates so I grabbed it...was very nervous to cancel SSR before being able to book VWL (worried I'd lose them both, but it worked out just fine). I continue to stalk to see if I can grab BWV or BCV, though DH is wanting to keep VWL. It is easier for me to do it on my computer instead of my cellphone. I check 1st thing in the AM and about 5 other times throughout the day.

I believe I once booked a day via smartphone, but that was a day DW found then called me b/c her Internet crashed.

Unless the new(er) site works better on mobile devices, it wasn't a very fun.

I'd do a test booking with my smartphone first. When I try to book on my ipad, my success rate is about 60%. It crashes on me when I get to the guest form.

I did it last November from my PC or laptop. There were no rooms anywhere for the 5 nights I wanted, about 2 months out (had to change dates due to a work conflict). So I booked an AP rate room at my favorite resort, BWV and waitlisted for points. Within a couple of weeks, nights 3, 4, 5 opened up. So I booked them and changed the waitlist to nights 1 & 2. Night 2 came open a week or two later, so I booked it and changed the waitlist to just night 1. Night 1 came through on the waitlist about 28 days out and member services automatically combined the reservations so I had the 5 nights together. I then cancelled the AP rate room.

So, to check with my smart phone (for instance if I'm in bed late at night), I need to go on the internet to the DVC site and check, correct.

For my laptop or at work, I just go on the site as usual. I'll keep checking and checking.

If I see something, I book it first, correct, without canceling my SSR and then once I book BLT (HOPEFULLY) I will cancel my SSR.

Thank you. Never had to do a WL before and being it is December 26, know I will be doing so.

I have booked on both my iPhone and my iPad and I have never had a problem.

It's worth a try. I've had waitlists come through, woohoo!!! And then found rooms by stalking the site. Booked with iphone and laptop without a problem. People cancel their trips for whatever reason and at any time so good luck to you!

I was able to book a one bedroom lake view at BLT for December 26. Im in a one bedroom standard view from December 27-29 prior to our cruise. I plan on stalking all week while I am at work actually all the time at work. i plan on doing a lot of looking today too since it is the 7 month mark for day after Christmas and thinking there may be a lot of movement today.

I waitlisted a one bedroom standard view (this would mean I would not have to move) and a standard view studio since if I have to move I may as well use the least amount of points.

There is not an app is that correct? I have to go on to the DVC website is that right? Maybe Ill get it set on my phone so I can stalk all day. I would think there would be a lot of movement today being seven months from day after Christmas.

I was able to cancel my reservation and book BLT one bedroom lake view for December 26 and depart on December 29 for a pre cruise stay! SOOO happy we do not have to move since my dd and I are going down before my dh and ds (and the rest of my extended family).

I decided it was worth my sanity to just book the lake view instead of with the December 26 waitlist and to keep checking. I must have checked over 50 times at the least yesterday and now I don't have to stress.
