Anyone done this before ? I just cant choose a Sig restaurant - only doing 1 due to 'picky preferring to eat all you can' teen son with us. Thought if we check out the menus at the time we are in WDW it might help with restaurant choice.

Have narrowed it down to:

Jiko
California Grill
Artist Point

Have ruled out Citricos due to small portion reports, and Brown Derby due to theme park food reports. No flying fish as we prefer steak (or really good salmon) to fish dishes though enjoy seafood appetizers. Its so hard trying to include a teenage boy as all he wants is simple food that he recognises. Luckily the girls will eat anything off the kids menu. I just cant convince DS goats cheese is nice :p He will eat steak and potatoes but those appetizers :confused3

You can check out menus before you go. Not sure if I'm permitted to link the wesite.

Hmmm....I would be careful with waiting until arrival to book your dinners. Due to the meal plan - most ressie's book up very quickly. I called 3 months out, and could't get some of the ressie's I wanted! :sad2:

I would recommend booking something...and then if you want to change, you can try to do so when you get down there. That way - worst case - you still have a good place to eat! :thumbsup2

problem is the menus change so much I have checked allears menus but then I read Dis reports of other new menu items and think we would like that!

If you wait you may not be able to get an ADR and if you're going during the free dining I would expect to find evrything booked.

Don't wait - book now or I'm afraid you'll be stuck eating somewhere just because they aren't booked!!

In my experience (including during free dining in 2005) signature restaurants are fairly easy to book a day out. They're a "bad deal" on the dining plan, so they don't really suffer from the excessive bookings that the dining plan can generate.

I had no problems calling to get Jiko, Citricos or Artist Point for dinner the next night. California Grill would be harder, since it has the fireworks view, but if you're willing to dine during non-fireworks times you might be able to get a table. I haven't tried calling for same day, but given the relative emptiness of the signature restaurants I've dined at, I don't think it would be impossible.

If you wait until you are there to pick, you will most likely not get to experience any signature dining at all.

go to allears.net and check out the menus. They are all there and fairly recent. That way you'll know what to expect, but don't wait.

good luck!!

This has been our experience as well. Signature dining is not a great deal on a plan I find, and you are more likely to be able to get a table not very far in advance. However, since you have narrowed it down to three choices, I would say make a booking or two, maybe for different nights...you can always cancel before you leave. Even if you can get a table on short notice, it might be for a time that you don't like, or won't work for you.
