Waiting on PIN vs DVC

Traveling on Jersey week this year with my family of 5 plus 2 other families of 5 as well. Want to stay at BLT. Do I try to rent someone's DVC points to save money now or wait to see if I get a Pin for a room discount or free dining. Basically for the 5 nights we are going would save $1,500 on BLT two bedrooms if we go DVC. However, the uncertainty of having someone else control my reservation bothers me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did get a Pin 3 years ago.

I travel Jersey week too and also got a sweet pin code that I used Nov 2010 (40% off). Nada for 2011 and 2012 beyond free dining (blah) last year. I switched in 2011 to renting DVC points and haven't looked back. So much better! I already have my Nov 2013 points rental and reservation settled for BVC!

That was the PIN I got too!

Was hoping for something again this year but everything I read makes me doubt it is going to happen again. DVC seems to be the way to go.

Did you go thru a broker to rent your points or did you go directly to an owner? I am concerned about not cotrolling my reservation and not dealing directly with Disney.

I've only rented DVC points privately. The first time (2011) I found someone here on the DISboards on the DVC rental boards (stayed at OKW) and for 2012 and 2013 I found points to rent from the other major DVC website for BCV stays.

My thought about the major downer of renting points is the inflexibility....you really have to be sure of your trip dates and no last minute cancellations. But on the other hand, you are staying at a fabulous resort for an amazing price!
