waiting in line etiquette for Harry Potter

We are spending a day at Universal in June, because my 3 kids are wild about Harry Potter. However, I am not.

I was thinking of standing in line at attractions for them, while they explore with dad, and I would call them as I got close.

I hear the "wand thing" is a big deal with a long wait. I'd enjoy the ride(s) but I don't get crazy excited about the theming.

If this is a big no-no, just say so. No need to slam me into smithereens (can you tell I visit the community board a lot?) I'm a good girl, I promise.

Let me make sure I understand your question? You want to know if it's ok if you stand in line while your husband and kids leisurely explore HP and you'll call them when you're close to riding????? Um, that would be a big fat NO! However, you can avoid most long queues by going through the single rider line as a family. You may or may not sit together on the ride though depending on where the empty seats are.

It's not the question that is rude, it's the act of doing it.

Besides, at a theme park like Universal it would be hard on most rides to call them as you get to the front. They could not easily get back to you with the way the lines go through the themed ride.

Are you guys just doing IOA or US also? Be sure and visit HP first thing in the morning and right before closing. I hear it's gorgeous at night and and the crowds will have died down some as well.
