Waiting for SWA to open its Dec/Jan fares thread!

I'm just hangin here waiting for any good fare...STL for me with any airline is $330/person...yikes! And the cheapest so far is Indy at right under $200...it's just those blasted dates I'm working with...12/18 depart and 12/25 return. So, I'm waiting around some more...

I'm really hoping it is tomorrow. Thought it would be today and kept hitting refresh all day at work.

I checked with one of SW ticket agents while at the airport yesterday, she was very surprised that they hadn't opened up thru January yet. She said it is usually 5-6 months out. She also couldn't give any reason for the delay. :earsboy:

My guess is the hike in fuel prices is a factor in them setting fares right now. I know that others have posted in the past that SWA does long-term contacts and so forth to stabilize things, but they've got to be busy with and concerned about price -setting with the astronomical increases at this point.........

Well, here we are again on a Wednesday night...hoping that it will be tomorrow!!!

If these fares come on sale tomorrow, do you think they will be included in the systemwide sale? If so, I think I will book tomorrow. If not, I will wait until they go on sale or a DING fare.
Any thoughts?

I'm not going to wait for a Ding or a sale, I just want to get my fare booked. :earsboy:

They're out up to January 9th, I'm still waiting for the end of the month.......

 Made it by one day, our dates are Jan 1st thru the 8th. :cheer2: I have purchased our tickets. :earsboy: I am so happy. :flower: One less thing I now have to worry about regarding our trip. :goodvibes

 GRRRRRRRRRRRRR I'm SO upset....just got on and the $79s were already GONE for my dates. Booked at a total of $850 RT for 3 :( MHT to MCO 12/20-12/27 on Non-stops. I will hope for a sale and credit for a later trip later........It's still cheaper and easier than booking at about $600 out of Boston and having more hassle and $$ for parking and getting to the airport. But DARN I should have gotten up earlier on a Thursday..........

Do some flights just never have an internet fair available? Theres none for our dates. I guess I'll have to do the same strategy as everyone else here. Buy the pricier ones and hope for a special.

Who knows for sure, but I'm convinced that on those flights they think they can sell out at the higher rate, they do not offer the more discounted fares. I noticed this last year when trying to book Pres week. That being said, I remember watching the Dec Vacation time period and I think they did discount some of the less travelled days. I think you've got a good shot at getting a cheaper ticket in the future. Keep watching and make sure you have ding installed. Also, I'm not sure how you booked, but if the fare is the same, sometimes it's worthwhile to book your trip as 2 OW instead of a RT. I booked DD and Uncle on flights for 10/7-10/12 as a RT. 10/12 is now a discounted flight, but I can't get the credit without changing 10/7, and availability on the 10/7 is sold out at the fare I booked. It might even be worth paying a few $$ more to have the OW flexibility. Good luck!

Man, I am really disappointed. I knew it would be today but didn't think it would be this early. I didn't check before I left for work and I should have. My flights PHL to MCO are not bad, $240 round trip. The flights on 12/23 were the highest, I must have missed all the cheaper fares. My SIL is paying $320 out of BWI b/c they are flying on 12/23 - 1/1. I cannot believe we missed the cheaper fares, they were all sold out! :confused3

Yeah, not bad fare...I can get Nashville to MCO for about $222 before the add on taxes, etc. and the flight times are good. BUT, blast it all IF Indy had a flight later than 1:45 out of MCO...I'd get the airfare for $74 each way. Crud!!! I'm thinking I'll book the Nashville flight and hope for a better DING! or sale...

just got 6 tickets msy-mco 12/16-23 for $1085!!!
