Wait - We're staying Where? and When????

I would LOVE to take that house off of Jim's hands... I wish I could talk Josh into moving somewhere WARM - I am soooo over this weather.

Second thought - I will just go on my own... ::yes::

I sure hope the darned weather doesn't mess with your plans... I will be so angry if it does!

Stay warm this weekend - and tell Charlie to stop scheduing time away from home, that's what's bringing all this snow!

D~

Driving is good. How did I miss that little detail???

Yep, we're getting plenty of snow right now, so it will no doubt be coming your way. I agree with D~, Charlie must stay home for the rest of this winter! I hope you don't have to miss work, or if you do, it is a shut down situation not involving vacation.

Dan and I have been talking about him retiring in a couple of years. He's only 56, but we're hoping for when he's 59 1/2. Anyway, he said, wouldn't it be nice to be able to go to Disney any time of the year we want? I totally agreed. Although he gets 6 weeks vacation and we can pretty much do that anyway, there are certain times he just can't get away.

I hope you don't get hit too hard and try to have a nice day!

First of all, we did not get the huge storm that was projected - it went further south, so all we got was about 3 inches. Luckily!

Now for the story on the stowaway. Shannon has a stuffed duck that Kate gave her. The duck's name is Duckie. Very original I know. Duckie has been around for a few years and Shannon brought it home with her to take to Chicago on her recent move.

Charlie got the bright idea to kidnap (duck-nap?) Duckie and take it with us to Florida. Duckie's Great Adventure. So we kept Duckie and are going to do pictures and a report on Duckie's trip. Which means I get to carry Duckie everywhere we go - since I will be the one with the bag. I think he will fill my bag.

Here is Duckie!

On another note, it looks like I might be going to Atlanta at the end of April for the national APA conference! I've never been to the national conference, so this is exciting for me. I should be able to earn all of my certification requirements on this trip! Bonus points!

I love Charlie's stowaway idea! Duckie will love Disney... Duckie does Disney is a great title for a TR...

And yay for Atlanta... We have lots of Dis friends in Atlanta area... Ariana... Nini... Are you going to have time to do any Dismeets while you are there?

Have a great day - stay warm... Only a few more days!

D~

WHAT A RIOT!!! I love the kidnapping of the duck!!!
Cannot wait to see his adventures!!

I love Charlie's sense of humor!!! That Duck nabbing was genius and will be great on a TR as D~ oh so subtly suggested.

I was so sorry to read you weren't feeling well and am glad you saw the doctor. I hope you are feeling better now and that you'll have a great time at Disney. I'll pray for safe travels and improved health and that Charlie does not get your cooties. Can't wait to hear all about your trip and the adventures of Duckie in Disney!!

BTW, Jennifer's procedure went well. It took her quite a while to wake up from the anesthetic, but she's optimistic about outcome. The pain meds are helping a lot. Thanks for all your prayers for her. I really appreciate them!

Not sure if I will get a chance to get back before you leave, I just wanted to wish you safe travels - have a great (warm) time! :)

Dragged myself out of bed at the early hour of 5:45 AM in order to make my ADRs for the September trip. I don't have a fancy schmancy calendar like D, so I'll just post them here. I had asked Charlie to come up with places to eat on our last two nights, but he was too busy, so I made some executive decisions and changed things up a bit from my original plan.

Here you go:

Day 1 - Tony's Town Square
Day 2 - Cape May Café
Day 3 - Mama Melrose
Day 4 - Tusker House - breakfast
Day 5 - Le Cellier*
Day 6 - Crystal Palace - breakfast* TT Dessert Party - no ADR yet
Day 7 - Beaches & Cream - lunch *
Day 8 - Ragland Road*
Day 9 - Be Our Guest
Day 10 - Flying Fish*

*These are all new to us this trip.

We will also be doing the MNSSHP on our Beaches & Cream day and going to the water parks on our Ragland Road day.
Couldn't make the ADR for the TT Dessert Party - it has to be at the 180 day mark, so I'll call next week and make that one.

Decided not to do a dinner the night of the MNSSHP because I didn't want to waste the time sitting in a restaurant. We will just grab something quick if we are hungry, but we have a fairly late lunch ressie.

Sorry I forgot to respond Lois - I was all caught up in my ADRS :rotfl: Glad to hear everything went well with Jennifer yesterday. Hopefully, this will be it for her.

Well, we can be in the same parks on the same days! and we'll be at the MNSSHP at the same time.

I know you're currently in your car on your way to (hopefully) sunny Florida and leaving us poor schmucks to continue to freeze. Although it's is supposed to get up to 70 next tuesday here in Virginia, so I'm really pumped!

I love your ADR lineup. (Although I wish you would work on the presentation.:lmao:) I think you'll like le Cellier. It used to be our favorite, but when it went signature, we stopped going. We love Raglan Road as well. Really nice atmosphere there and the food was outstanding. You are going at our favorite time of year. Love the crowd levels in September!!

Well, I hope you are having a great trip and that you feel tons better. Have a wonderful time!!

I love that you took Duckie with you on your trip. :thumbsup2

Awesome job on the ADR's. We are trying Flying Fish for the first time too in September. :)

We are back from sunny WARM Florida....Not happy at the prospect of more snow overnight either.:guilty::mad::sad2:

Our trip started out at the lovely hour of 4:30 am (or o'dark thirty). We had the car packed the evening before, so we just needed to load last minute things and Duckie and head off down the road. I swear we were half-way through Virginia before we saw the last of the snow. About mid-morning Charlie's phone started ringing....never a good sign. He let it go to voice mail, but then once we stopped he checked. One of his clients was having major problems, but he couldn't do anything until we stopped for the night and he could get on his computer. He did manage to talk them through some small fixes though.

We stopped at South of the Border right about lunch time and I managed to talk C out of buying the huge fireworks package that contained artillery shells and C-4 - the package was taller than he is.

We stopped about 8 or 9 that night - not too far from Gainesville. I was feeling miserable about then and promptly fell into bed and went to sleep. C managed to solve the problem, at least temporarily. Forgot to reset the clock for DST, so we got a bit later start than we had originally planned, but still managed to get to Sarasota before the first baseball game started at 1:30.

Charlie spent most of the rest of that evening, all of the next morning and even left the baseball game on Monday early to work on the client's problems. I, meanwhile, was feeling miserable with a cold. I do have lots of pictures from the games, but I have to download them. We had planned to go to three games - 2 at the Orioles park and 1 at the Pirates park, but didn't have any hard and fast plans for Wednesday. We brought stuff for the beach, but it was a bit too chilly for me in the morning to spend too much time on the beach. So..................what did we finally decide to do????????

Yaaaayy!!!! Minus the cold, sounds like your trip is off to a good start:) can't wait to hear...errr... Read more!!!

OHHHHHHHH NO!!! Your Not allowed to be sick.. And Chrarlie working on Vacation?!?!

I hope this gets better for the both of you!!!

Oh, I can't wait to see pics and read more about your trip! I'm so sorry you got a cold. That is the pits!!! You so deserved a wonderful vacation after all that horrible weather you went through! I hope you got better quickly and things started looking up. Boo that Charlie had to work!!

Glad to hear you are home Tess... Oh no... You cannot get sick in FL - didn't you know that? I sure hope you start to feel better soon.

I know what you did - but I am not telling... :whistle

D~

I will catch up with this report sooner or later. I haven't even downloaded my pictures yet... sigh.

I really was miserable for the first couple of days we were on vacation. I had a prescription from the doctor but it didn't seem to be helping much. I guess with a cold, you really need to let it run its course. I ended up taking some Dayquil (can't do the Nyquil because I have a hard time waking up) and even that did not help much, but by Tuesday night I was finally feeling better.

Tuesday, Charlie asked me what we had planned for Wednesday. My original plan was to go to the beach on Wednesday, but rain was forecast, so I really didn't want to do that. His suggestion was to go to Disney! Who could turn down that suggestion?

I asked if he wanted to go for the day and come back and he said no, lets see if we can get a room. I checked out the value resorts since it was just for a night and found a room at either Pop Century or AS Sports. We went for Pop, since we've never been before. Pop was awesome! Way over the top, in your face fun.

We packed up early Wednesday morning and headed to Orlando. It was overcast, but fairly warm. Didn't have any trouble finding the resort, checked in with no problem. Our room was linked to the magic bands we already had. Dropped the bags off in the room and headed out to the bus stop. Stood in line for about 1/2 hour waiting for a bus to...............The Magic Kingdom! While we were waiting, it started to rain. We didn't let that bother us, just pulled out the ponchos. Once we got off the bus it had stopped raining and did not rain for the rest of the day.

We had so much fun!. I was able to get fast passes for the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion at reasonable times. (Remember t his was the evening before - I love the new fp+ system!) We also discovered the Buzz Lightyear ride. I don't know why we had never done this one before, but we ended up riding it about 6 times! The pictures of Charlie were hilarious. He was so serious in all of them. We also rode the train, Carousel of Progress (twice), People mover and POTC again. Both Space Mountain and Splash Mountain were down for maintenance and the line for Big Thunder Mountain was long. We saw Philharmagic twice and also saw the Monster's Laugh Floor. We were able to get a reservation for the Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. The park was open until 11 pm and we were there until about 10:30. Not bad for a last minute add on.

WOW!!! I cannot believe how much you accomplished in one day - and wasn't it a half day at that? Cool!!!

We LOVE blsrs - much better than TSM - IMO. ;)

And yay for LTT... Never had dinner there - but lunch is our favorite. :)
