Wait times

UO app

And the parks have signs listing wait times for rides
It is updated regularly

Show times also listed

Are the signs all around the parks? Can I see wait time for a ride on the opposite side from where I am at?

Touring Plans also has a Lines app, similar to the one they have for WDW. But I haven't seen any reports on its relative accuracy the way there are reports of the superiority of the WDW Lines app over Disney's.

The Universal Orlando app is very nice. It matched the big boards every time I checked for accuracy. Download it a few days in advance to familiarize yourself with navigating the app. No need to deal with paying for Touring Plans and especially do not use the app from undercovertourist. That app has not been updated for years and still shows wait time for Jaws to be 35 minutes, 'nuff said.

I like the Universal app. It shows the locations of everything, and you can sort the rides by thrill, 3-D, water, kid-friendly. It also shows all dining options.

Comparing it with the boards just shows that they're consistent, which would make sense if they're driven off the same database. But did you compare what it says against how long you actually waited?

The common complaint about Disney is that their posted times are often much longer than reality, both at the ride and in their app.

Wait times are kept updated

Many times I was given the card at the start when I entered the line and gave it to the TM for it to be used to update the system

I'd say, yes they are very close to reality. I'm sure there is psychology to saying 25 minutes and the actual is 20. Better than having visitors get mad about being 5 minutes over, I guess.
