I was able to snag a 1 bedroom at Kidani for December 31st. however nothing else came up last week. I am wait listed for SSR. The rest of our trip starts at SSR and ends with 6 nights at the Boardwalk. What are the chances of the December 31st. wait list coming through for SSR 1 bedroom ??? :confused3:

There is nothing available on property for a 1 bedroom on the 31st. I was lucky to snag the AKL room last week. We have never been this week however our dd's bday is the 30th and she wants to go for her birthday. We are going for the week of the 29th. and the week of January 5th. A busy week and a much slower week we are hoping! :)

Just keep searching; I'm sure something will open up. I started with SSR and BWV, but have since put together a 10 day stay at BLT over new years. Things open up randomly, so you need to be vigilant about searching.

Thanks for your reply, trust me I am searching :)

It is often mentioned here that NYE is the hardest night to book! Just keep stalking the online booking site because sometimes cancelled rooms are released into the system rather than going right to the wait list. Good luck!

That's exactly what I was wondering do rooms accidentally go to the active system instead of the waitlist and why would that happen ?

I think it's been speculated in the past that if a room's opening doesn't fulfill the entire waitlist request (e.g. waitlist is for 29-31, room opens up for 29-30), then it goes right into the available pool.

That of course wouldn't hold up if you are waitlisted for a single night and later find a room available while your waitlist goes unfulfilled...

We will see what happens. I am wait listed for only the 1 night however I am still searching online every hour or so. I just might have to move to AK for the night then back to SSR, but hopefully that will not be the case. :)

DVC has never publicly disclosed how the waitlist process works. There have been reports here that people were able to book online (or by calling MS) the exact resort, room type and dates that they were waiting for via the wait list.

As HarvardAce said, when the wait list process is run it will only fill a WL that can be matched in its entirety. Since you are waiting for just one night, your odds of getting a match are much better. We also don't know how often the WL process is run (once a day? multiple times a day?) or whether cancelled nights that might help fulfill a WL are set aside until the process is run so that all cancellations made throughout the day can be pooled in hopes of fulfilling larger wait lists.

The WL software probably worked pretty well prior to online booking becoming available since the odds of someone calling MS for dates that were just cancelled earlier that day were pretty small. Now that we can see available inventory online, there is a good chance you can grab the night you need before the WL process ever gets a chance to do it's job. But again, we can only speculate about how it works based on what people report here...
