Hello everyone!

Well I finally bought a resale and called to schedule something for June 17th -27th. It's a long trip, like 10 nights and I think that's my issue. I was able to book at my home resort (Saratoga), but I really wanted anything at AK, Bay Lake, or Boardwalk/Beach. Am I to expect this for most of the trips I plan in the future? What are my odds, I wait listed at Bay Lake ;(.

I believe you problem is more the time frame. You are only calling a few months in advance, your trip is during Star Wars Weekends (not sure how much that affects park attendance) and early summer when a lot of kids are just out of school. We also own at SSR and while we love it there we have been able to stay at BCV, Vero, and OKW with no problems by calling at the 7 month mark. Even getting 2 rooms at BCV (a 2 bdr, and a 1 bdr) last year for July 4th.

You need to book at 7 months out at the non home resorts. As the number of memberships increase, getting a reservation is becoming more difficult. That's why it's important to buy where you love to stay.

Availability on short notice is always limited. As others have said, I think the fact that you are trying to book only a few months out is playing a role.

Now that you are a member and will be able to book your home resort at 11 months and then trade out at 7, this will give you can opportunity to get something at one of the other resorts.

But, depending on when you want to travel, trading out, even at 7 months, could prove difficult. For example, early December is a very popular DVC time and some have not had great luck getting the resorts you mention.

That is one of the reasons we bought at BLT. We want to be there and didn't want to take any chances that things would not be available at 7. Where we stay is the most important part of our trip.

Good luck! I hope it comes through for you!!!
