After a very stressful relocation from Charlotte, NC to Chicago, IL we decided to attempt to make reservations at Old Key West from March 14- March 20. We were able to get all days except March 18 and March 19, we were then put on the waitlist.

I've never done waitlist before, what are your experiences? Should we make reservations elsewhere just in case the waitlist does not come through? At what point will it be obvious we will not be getting in at those dates?

Thank you very much for your responses. I've always recieved the best advice here.

We are going the beginning of march. We had ressies at the BWV 7 nights preferred, wanted standard. Put on the wait list. Never heard. about a two weeks ago I started calling daily, second time I got first six nights standard room. About a week later I was able to pick up the last night in a standard room. Well I was also able to add to two more nights.

The MS person told me that toward the end they add rooms that were in the cash section. Also, I think that there are rooms that make it back into the system and aren't there long enough to make to the wait list portion.

So, keep trying you probably will get lucky

If you really need to be there those two night I would make a "back-up" somewhere. At 30 days from the reservation the wait list ends and you have to call and let them know if you want to continue to try for those nights.

Michelle, we will be there from the 15th to the 24th. We are also on the waitlist for the 19th, 2BR Preferred view. We have been on this waitlist since September 1st. I have called once to follow up with MS on December 26th, just to make sure we were on the waitlist. But nothing. fortunately we do have a ressie at the FW Campground fo a cabin as a backup for the 19th. We also had a ressie for the Hoop-Dee-Do review for the 19th and our two young boys love the campfire, so staying there became a no brainer. I hope the staff can help us relocate to and from FW. It seems a shame that for one night we have to move back and forth like that. My wife is wondering what to do about the food we will buy when we arrived on the 15th. Will they move that too ?, or will they keep it refridgerated at the BW some place until we return on the 20th ?
