Wait List and Buying Points

If I go on the wait list for a reservation that would require borrowing my remaining points for next UY, as well as buying four of the $20 DVC "extra" points, do I have to buy those points before going on the wait list? CAN I buy those points before going on the wait list?

You can only get OTU when making a booking, and you cannot set a waitlist to buy those points.

You can cheat and make a booking that is inside 7 months and buy those points then. Then cancel the booking so the points become available. You need to make sure the points will still be good for your intended booking, and be okay maybe losing them if the WL doesn't come through.
