Wait, didn't I just get back?! An August '10 PTR...TRIP REPORT LINK ADDED p. 27

"Monday: DHS AM; AK PM
Tuesday: MK AM; EPCOT PM
Wednesday: Universal!!
Thursday: MK AM; DHS PM
Friday: EPCOT AM; MK PM"

I really like this schedule, is AK open late on Monday? If not you may be able to sneak in a quick trip to MK to ride some fun night things. You are all so young, you must not need much sleep. Right? I like your list of must do attractions at DHS. What about Beauty and the Beast? Try to do animation academy, it is so much fun. I would be so excited for WWOHP, a whole new experience for you. Can't wait to hear the report.

On our last August trip, it was a noticable difference for me crowd wise between Fantasmic and non-Fantasmic days. Sounds like the morning EMH hours would work better for you to hit TSM, ToT, and RnRC.

I haven't decided if I want to meet Lotso yet. ;) He's such a meanie.

That is what I thought. I think the EMH would be helpful for those main three rides.

LOL! Yeah, he is mean but I still want to meet him. He is sort of cute. :)

Okay - this is my input on the whole MK/DHS the first two mornings thing. I do think that we should hit those two parks right away. But I think we should do something along the lines of what Dad has mentioned - do DHS on Monday morning, and then MK on Tuesday when it has early EMH. I know we always do MK the first day, but I honestly don't care if we change things up this time. It may be busier at DHS on Monday since it has late EMH, but maybe that won't be until a bit later. I'm just starting to think about the whole week, and breaking it down, maybe we could do something like this:

Monday: DHS AM; AK PM
Tuesday: MK AM; EPCOT PM
Wednesday: Universal!! :wizard:
Thursday: MK AM; DHS PM
Friday: EPCOT AM; MK PM

I don't know - these are just my thoughts! The only thing about doing it this way that I'm not crazy about is waiting until the last day to do the nighttime stuff at MK. That may be too depressing. :lmao: So I'll keep thinking. :goodvibes

As for the must-do attractions, I obviously agree with the big three. I too am so glad we are missing the TSM refurb. I can't wait to see the new Dino game! And you said you don't know what me and Emma think about the Animation Academy, but I definitely want to do it. I saw the topic you started a few weeks back about what characters people have drawn there, and there are so many! It sounds like fun, so I want to give it a try. Also, like you mentioned, it's a way to get out of the heat. And even though he's a meanie, I want to meet Lotso, too. :thumbsup2 Oh, and we didn't get to eat at Pizza Planet in January either. So we have to go there.

I kind of agree about the last night at MK. Like you said, just the thought of that depresses me  and we probably shouldn't wait until the end of our trip to see it. Since we've never seen it and really want to we could probably go to the MK one of the first couple of nights.

OK, good! The Animation Academy is soooo fun.

Are you a fan of Star Tours? I've always liked it and gotta get one last ride in before the refurb in September! I'm really looking forward to the changes though too!

Umm...I have actually never been on Star Tours. :rolleyes1 I know, it is kind of bad considering how many times we've been there but I am so scared of motion simulators!

Congrats on 18 days!!!! That is just awesome!

Those vinylmation sure are cute!

I had not heard of the Rock 'n Glow party at HS - I'll have to look and see if they're having it at all while we're there! It might be over by then though...

Karen

Thanks! I can't believe how fast it's coming up!

The party is new and just for the summer, as part of the Summer Nightastic stuff. It's only on certain nights but it sounds like a fun time. :)

AK has the late EMH on Wednesday, our Universal day. I would be kind of tempted to go over there just to see the park at night. We could do Beauty and the Beast too. I can't even remember the last time I saw that.

Woohoo, for being so close!
I did the American Idol experience when we went to DHS last weekish! (I did it twice, actually, because I had enjoyed it so much :p )
Haha, Lotso is a meanie... yet I still want to meet him, maybe next trip?

All caught up again! Thanks to your handy chapter links!:thumbsup2

YAY for being in the teens! So excited for you!:goodvibes I think your plans sound great so far! The Jungle Cruise at night is definitely something we want to try and do next trip. We were hoping to see the Candy lady in Japan in April but missed her. I hope you get to see her!

Love your new VB bags!! So cute and at a great price too! The TS3 Vinylmations are adorable! I think I like Buzz the best...oh and Weezy too!;)

Oh and I've really enjoyed all your trip flashbacks! Can't wait to read more!

A couple of thoughts on your plans:

1. You might not have to do 2 AM EMH at MK to do everything you want to do there. So maybe you could keep the tradition of going to MK the first morning.

2. You could also go to the MK for the night shows on Monday like we did on our January trip. It will be more fun for you to do those early in the trip. You could stop at AK or Epcot in the late afternoon and go from there to the MK. Because AK has AM EMH on Monday, you might be better off going there on Tuesday.

3. Keep in mind that too many AM EMH may wear you out, especially if you're out late the night before. For example, if you stay for the fireworks at MK on Monday night, you won't get back to the room until about 11 PM. You might welcome the extra hour of sleep if you go to a 9 AM opening on Tuesday.

4. If you really want to do AM EMH at DHS, you could think about going to Universal on Tuesday instead, and then go to DHS on Wednesday morning. But that would also require getting up real early on Tuesday morning after being at the MK fireworks on Monday.

5. I would always try to do the things you want to do MOST early in the trip. You never know when weather or something else is going to make you alter your plans. That's why I would probably go to MK on Monday morning AND go the Electrical Parade and fireworks that night with a stop at the pool and/or a brief visit to another park in between. Maybe you could go to EPCOT in the afternoon to try to get one of the VISA pictures (while you wait in the AC). That would also give you an opportunity to do the obligatory monorail ride to get back to the MK.

6. Because Fantasmic is not until 9 PM, you could probably see an Idol finale and still get into Fantasmic if you want on the same night. I see that they have now added a 10:30 Fantasmic show on both Tuesday and Thursday. I would be shooting for that on Thursday, instead of Tuesday because you will be getting up real early on Wednesday to go to Universal.

Umm...I have actually never been on Star Tours. :rolleyes1 I know, it is kind of bad considering how many times we've been there but I am so scared of motion simulators!

Ah! You aren't alone, no shame!! Many people refuse to go on that ride. :goodvibes

I think you've got a great DHS list, I'm really hoping to get the Animation Academy in this time due to your rave reviews! Or maybe I'll just "help" Henry draw his and we'll see how a 3 year old + Mommy team do!

I can understand your excitement at being 18 days away. I was in a similar position when we were 18 days away, still in summer school (finishing up my reading endorsement) and I was chomping at the bit. Now we are only 5 days away and I am so excited. I agree with all of your must do's especially the rock and glow party since it sounds so cool and the AI experience since I haven't had a chance to do that yet. Have fun with all the planning for your trip.

That's awesome that you're getting there before Toy Story Mania goes down for refurbishment. That would be sad to miss it.

The good news about Lotso is that, at least in June, he doesn't have nearly as long of lines as some of the other characters that have been at the Animation building in the last years like the UP characters. You shouldn't have too much of a problem meeting him.

I can't believe it's only 17 more days for you! yay!

I like your plans for DHS. I can't wait to see your picture with Lotso

EMH at AK would be fun if you weren't too tired from Universal on Wednesday. Have you ever ridden EE at night? That's something I've always wanted to do!

Wow, I wish I had that type of self control when it came to pins. I'm horrible about bringing home way too many. Although, I do hope you bend your rules so I can see which TS vinylmation ones you get. :-) Have you ever gotten the same ones? If so, what do you do w/ them?

I feel the same way about the GMR! I want to see the western side so bad but it's ALWAYS the gangster. BOO!

Cool! Glad you liked the American Idol Experience. It is one of my favorites. :thumbsup2

Hopefully Lotso will still be there for you on your next trip!

Thanks Angie! It's hard to believe we're getting so close. I would love to see the Candy lady but I have a feeling a certain sister may not go for that...haha

I am so hoping the TS vinyls are out by the time we go! Love them!

Yeah, I just can't bring myself to do it. :rolleyes1

Aww, glad you are going to try the Animation Academy! I want to see how Henry does. Maybe he is a budding artist and he could grow up to be a Disney animator!

I can understand your excitement at being 18 days away. Yay for only 5 days for you! Definitely go to the AIE. It is a lot of fun. :thumbsup2

It would be depressing to miss it. We would've survived but it always stinks when a favorite attraction is shut down.

haha, maybe everyone hates him from the movie. Hopefully the line won't be too long then.

I can't believe it's only 17 more days for you! yay!

EMH at AK would be fun if you weren't too tired from Universal on Wednesday. Have you ever ridden EE at night? That's something I've always wanted to do!

Me neither! Woo hoo!

No, we've never even been to AK at night! This is the first time (atleast that I know of) where there are PM EMH at the AK. Whoa, that was a lot of abbreviations. I think there was one time on one of our holiday trips where we went to AK the first afternoon so it started getting dark a little earlier but that was pre-Expedition Everest anyway. Like I said I'd be tempted to go over there but since my sisters don't have APs it would be kind of a waste to use a day for just a little bit.

BOO!

Oh, haha, trust me, I've gotten that way with pins too. But I am trying to limit myself to those too in getting only ones that have meaning, like a new resort or attraction. This trip I'm hoping to get something for Toy Story since the movie just came out or the MSEP if there is such a thing. We'll see. It's kind of easy to limit vinylmations because of those dang blind boxes! I hate how you don't know which one you're getting!

I was thinking the same thing about the fireworks. It would be fun to do that on our first night and I agree about not wanting to be out too late Tues. if we go to Universal on Wednesday.

That's another reason why going to DAK on Tuesday afternoon might be perfect. The park closes at 7 and our experience is that the crowd usually thins out pretty significantly after the parade. It sure was like that on our arrival day in April, and that was during the supposedly very busy week after Easter. If you get to the park around parade time, you could probably do all of your favorite things between 4 and 7 without much waiting. If there's a late PM thunderstorm the place might really empty out.

As we talked about, we never are around for a true park closing, so it might be kind of fun to see how long after the stated closing time they let you hang around. Even if you don't leave until 8, you'd still be back to the hotel in time to get a good night's sleep before your big day on Wednesday.

I like the way you think! :thumbsup2:laughing:

haha, I thought you might like that!

I don't think I've ever been more happy for it to be Friday.

I'm not one to usually complain on the DIS but let's just say Milwaukee got some crazy heavy rain last night and it is not pretty at all! At one point our street literally looked like a raging river. :scared1:

On the bright side the water (for now) has gone down and we only have 16 days left until Florida! Hopefully we'll still be able to go.

OK, thanks for listening to me. I also got the next couple updates of my TR typed up before all the rain so maybe I can post those later. :)

Have a good Friday!

Hi Sarah,

I know wasn't it insane here with the rain???? :scared1: Thank goodness our basement didn't flood! The news said that we got a total I think 2 months of rain in 2 hours!!! :scared1: Crazy! Glad your ok and survived.

YIKES!!! I saw something on the news this morning about all your rain up there. I'm glad it's gone down and you guys didn't suffer any damage. A few years ago, it flooded pretty bad here and the street by my office building was completely full of water and there were cars, port-o-potties (they were doing construction) and other random stuff floating down the street. It was crazy!!

Have you looked at the upcoming pins that are going to be released? Here's a link, just in case. They have one of Big Baby and it's creepy!!

:scared1: that is freaky about the rain!! I know there was some serious storms out here too, but not in the City. It delayed a bunch of flights by hours (and of course I had to have a friend on one!).

That Big Baby pin is a bit creepy...!

It was really nuts. Our basement was flooded pretty badly. The good news is that the difference between last night and this morning was literally, like night and day. This morning you never would've thought anything happened other than just rain.

That's how our street was last night. It was like Kali River Rapids or something and I'm not even joking. It was so scary...never seen anything like that in my life before. Some of the pictures I saw too are just terrifying.

I do like to check the upcoming pins every so often and saw those Toy Story ones. I like the Buttercup one. Sadly they're going to be released after we get there. Boo. Oh well. That Big Baby one is super creepy!

It was just nuts last night. It's supposed to rain again tonight but hopefully it won't be as bad. The airport here was shut down for a while because some of the runways were flooded.
