DS#2, Matt, called and very quietly said that he had some news. I asked, "Good news or bad news?" He said, "Good news." I was feeling, "Great! I really need good news!"

And the news was --

He's getting a $1500 scholarship from Penn State, a book stipend, and a bunch of Nike clothes.

And what does he have to do for this???

HE'S GOING TO BE A PENN STATE CHEERLEADER !!!

He tried out on a dare from his frat Big Brother. The two guys he went with wussed out, but he decided to go for it. He was up against guys that had been practicing for months and he has never cheered. (In fact, he was a football player!)

I am so excited for him! He has been Mr. Penn State since he was five years old!

I feel like I'm bouncing like Tigger! (and I'm a PITT grad!)

Thanks for reading!
Edie

That's so cool! Congrats!

That is cool - can't believe he made it without practicing! Is he a gymnast? What does he look like -- we'll be watching for him

Very cool - congtulations to your son!

Yes, male cheerleaders do quite well. I used to work with a few male cheerleaders at Villanova. They apparently were so thrilled for the warm up suits, and the books!

And they were really nice guys!

I'm sure you know this, so for everybody else that may not, cheerleading is now considered a sport and a very demanding sport at that.

My DD is 5 1/2 yrs old and she has been in gymnastics now since she was 2 1/2 yrs old to prepare her for cheerleading some day. She is very petite for her age and believe she would be very good at this sport.

I am very excited for you - and I always like to see males in gymnastics, ice skating and cheerleading because you can clearly see how strong they are and how much they work out in order to lift the females or themselves like they do.

Please tell him congratulations!!!!

Congrats to Matt! :Pinkbounc He sounds like my uncle. My uncle went to Penn State yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears ago. He retired from his accounting firm last year AND STILL GOES TO PENN STATE'S FOOTBALL GAMES! He's ALWAYS gone to them! LOLOLOLOL! Hmmmmmmmm...they recently had a house built in FL. Let's see if he keeps it up. ;)
