Bummer! Last night I had a dream that you told me you were leaving on the 7th, and I was trying to add two days so we could see you! :goodvibes We started with planning June, but the boys ended up choosing July, thinking that right after the 4th might not be quite as crazy :confused3

Tammie, you were right with the 7th. Only thing is that you got the month wrong :lmao:, we are leaving September 7th. ;)
Maybe we will get to see you in 2014, when we are vacationing in California.

Thanks! I'll bet that would make a good read. Here's hoping your hopping is going well - it will make the time go by fast until your trip!

That will be so cool!:cool1: We should be able to pull that one off - unless we are cruising with DBIL at the same time. Your trip will probably be long enough that we can make it happen, though!

Saturday dawned Sunny and a little tropical misty. I think that would make a good weather term! "Today will be partly sunny with a chance of tropical misty."

I had one thing on my mind - GET ME TO THE BEACH! Michelle and Tabby wanted to go shopping at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. Michelle sweetly asked if I would join them and she would have me back by 11 for some beach time. Even though I love shopping, I knew that this would be a mistake. I only had this one chance to get some beach time, and if perchance the shopping turned into an all day event, I would be so irritated that I would be hard to live with. So I told them to have a wonderful day without me! Jesse opted to stay with the ladies and go shopping.

By 9am, I was standing outside my door, swimsuit and coverup on, sunscreen in hand, waiting for Jim and Wayne to come and give me a ride to the base beach. :woohoo: Of course they were right on time!

They were hungry, so we stopped to visit the Wright Brothers for a breakfast sandwich.

Breakfast finished, I was dropped off at the beach, with a camp chair Jim had purchased for me, my book, sunscreen and some water.

"What time do you want me to pick you up?"
"Never. I am never leaving this spot."
"We have a luau tonight."
"Will there be Mai Tais involved?"
"Of course."
"Okay, pick me up at 3 unless Michelle comes and gets me first."

Let me tell you - I was :cloud9:

This is a wonderful little beach - the only drawback is that it is right next to the flightline for both the military jets - so I could see that the boys were really working. :goodvibes and for the airport too. It can be a little noisy, but you soon adjusts to the noise and tune it out.

Ahhh, sweet relaxation!

IMGP3749.jpg

I slathered on the sunscreen, donned my hat and shades, settled in with my book and......
Yep. It clouded over and started to drizzle. :sad2: I grabbed my towel and book and moved back under a shelter a few feet away - and the sun came out again! :cloud9:

Back to the chair, settle in - start to read - :3dglasses
and it clouds over and starts to drizzle! :headache:

This went on for most of the morning! I finally just relaxed and ignored it. A few times it actually rained a little, and I just covered up with the towel until it passed over.

There were a couple of couples from here who were a little freaked out by it - it was comical to watch them. The bikini clad girls were all set - beautiful new tans from the tanning salon (remember they are from here, so I knew) beautiful new bikinis - and of course bodies I am jealous of!:goodvibes Everyone was struttin' their stuff KWIM? I believe the hubbies are pilots -they get training in strutting and the wives get trained in all of the social graces that requires, I believe. Have you seen Army Wives????:rolleyes1

So Anyhoooo - They got their new beach towels all spread out - got all settled - the drizzle came - they jumped up and ran for the shelter - all wrapped up and screaming - they did this about 5 times and packed up and left. :confused3

After a couple of hours of Bi-polar beach weather, the sun came out and it was beautiful! I dipped in the water a couple of times, and applied more sunscreen.

I still managed to get a little burned. Who am I kidding - alot. But it was worth it. Michelle and Jesse showed up about 1:30 - we had to leave at 3 to get home and get ready for this evening's luau. I am so happy I chose to do my own thing. ;)

Jesse decided to rent a kayak and do some paddling.

We enjoyed our time and then packed up and headed home to the boys. We had some hulaiin to get ready for!

Friday dawned Sunny and a little tropical misty. I think that would make a good weather term! "Today will be partly sunny with a chance of tropical misty."

I get misty eyed, just thinking about it.

I had one thing on my mind - GET ME TO THE BEACH!

See, right there. It's like we're twins. We almost say the same thing.
I would say, "GET ME AWAY FROM THE BEACH!"

Really, close. Uncanny, no?

Michelle and Tabby wanted to go shopping at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet.

That was one of the spots on my to-do list, but we never made it. I think we had enough at the international market anyway.

Michelle sweetly asked if I would join them and she would have me back by 11 for some beach time. Even though I love shopping, I knew that this would be a mistake.

Okay, you must really love the beach if you're going to pass up shopping in favor of it.

Jesse opted to stay with the ladies and go shopping.

Nice! :thumbsup2

Breakfast finished, I was dropped off at the beach, with a camp chair Jim had purchased for me, my book, sunscreen and some water.

Did they at least stop the car? Or did you have to tuck and roll?

Typical tropical scene. Sun, waves, palms, 747s.

:headache: Isn't that just the way it goes? Glad it finally cleared up for you later on.

Such a shame that you don't have any pictures. It would be so funny to see them running back and forth.

Yeah, that's the reason.

Yeah.

:rolleyes1

Jesse decided to rent a kayak and do some paddling.

Just curious. Did he have trouble getting started?

We enjoyed our time and then packed up and headed home to the boys. We had some hulaiin to get ready for!

Sounds good! Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes

Looks like a really relaxed day at the beach (even if it meant running for shelter now and then ;)).
The beach looks just really nice, even with the planes coming in  and count me in to the ones who love the photo of your toes in the sand. :thumbsup2

Good choice on the beach! I really am not a big shopper- so I would definitely have done the same- shop at home! Go to the beach in Hawaii!!:thumbsup2

Somehow I knew that would be your response. :rolleyes1

I considered it, but it wasn't really the type of shopping I wanted to do - more like the International Market is what I had in mind

That's a definite, especially when there's only one sunny day to be had!

!!!

Nice! :thumbsup2

Did they at least stop the car? Or did you have to tuck and roll?

Well, they stopped long enough for me to jump out, then peeled out - throwing my chair, etc. out the window as their tires screeched on the road - :car:

Oh, I'm sure that is the reason :rolleyes1

Just curious. Did he have trouble getting started?

No, I think he just headed for the swimming area and Michelle went out to tell him where to go, which did not make him happy. :goodvibes

Sounds good! Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes

Thanks for reading!

Love the toenails! I like people watching at the beach, too. So fun! Then I get worried that I'm as entertaining as they are...

Thanks! That is so true! :rotfl2:

What's a beach day without a little excitement, right? I think PKondz would have way more fun jumping up out of his chair and running every 10 minutes than just sitting and reading - I read that somewhere :rolleyes1

That's what I was thinking - I had already bought all my souvies at the BX the first day when it was raining outside - no sense wasting a sunny day!

yup best choice! I love all those photos. Some day we will get out there. Dumb question but in order to take advantage of all of these military deals you still need to be active right?

I'm waiting to hear if you met up with keahi...

Thanks! Yes, you need to be active or retired from the military, or employed by the Dept of Defense.

Oh, I forgot to say - I called Keahi on Wed morning and she was in the middle of arranging some kind of tour :confused3 I'm thinking she has a fun job. Anyway, she couldn't talk and said she'd call back. I didn't hear from her again - figured she was busy. Then after we were back it dawned on me that my phone was wonky while we were there and I should have tried her again just in case. :sad2:

ahhh--dad served two tours during the viet nam period so always looking for deals for them

Well, I might've been forced to seek shelter with the beach bunnies...
