Wade Robson, who testified at the MJ hearing that he had never been molested has changed his story...So, it it true or just a money grab?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/07/michael-jackson-child-molestation-claim_n_3234096.html

A choreographer who worked with some of the biggest names in pop music in the early 2000s has accused Michael Jackson of childhood sexual abuse, reports TMZ.

Legal documents filed by Wade Robson -- a choreographer who worked with Britney Spears, *NSYNC, Usher and P!nk (and was rumored to have been the man Spears cheated on Justin Timberlake with in 2002) -- claim that the late singer molested him as a child. Robson's lawyers are asking a judge in the Michael Jackson Estate case to allow him to file a late creditor's claim against the estate.

Robson, 30, says he met Jackson when he was 5 years old, and says he was sleeping over at Neverland Ranch, as well as the star's homes in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, from the ages of 7 to 14.

The details of the allegations have been sealed by the Los Angeles probate court where Robson's lawyer filed the claim on May 1, but the documents are said to include an affidavit from a child pyschiatrist who treated Robson as a child, reports CNN.

Robson's claims are particularly surprising since he testified in Jackson's 2005 child molestation trial and denied that the singer abused him. What's more, when Jackson died in 2009, Robson only had positive things to say about the iconic performer:

"Michael Jackson changed the world and, more personally, my life forever. He is the reason I dance, the reason I make music, and one of the main reasons I believe in the pure goodness of human kind," he said at the time.

While Robson's claims after all this time are sure to raise some eyebrows, TMZ notes that Jackson's former housekeeper Blanca Francia testified during Jackson's 2005 trial that she witnessed the pop star in the shower with Robson when he was only 8 or 9 years old.

Jackson was acquitted on all charges in his 2005 trial, and previously had settled out of court for $22 million in 1994, after he was accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy. Jackson was never indicted on allegations brought against him in the early '90s, and when news of his settlement with the boy's family broke in 2004, he was vehement that the money was not an admission of guilt:

"I have always maintained my innocence and vehemently denied that these events ever took place. I reluctantly chose to settle the false claims only to end the terrible publicity and to continue with my life and career," Jackson said in a statement.

UPDATE: The attorney representing Michael Jackson's Estate has already dismissed Wade Robson's allegations as "outrageous and pathetic," telling TMZ:

"Mr. Robson's claim is outrageous and pathetic. This is a young man who has testified at least twice under oath over the past 20 years and said in numerous interviews that Michael Jackson never did anything inappropriate to him or with him," said Howard Weitzman. "Now, nearly 4 years after Michael has passed, this sad and less than credible claim has been made."

Likewise, Tom Mesereau, the lawyer who led Jackson's defense in his 2005 trial, also told the website he believes Robson's belated claim "must be just about money."

He has fallen out of the spotlight in the dance world, so to me this looks like a money grab.

However, I think he was abused and wasn't going to come forward about it but changed his mind when his fame faded...

Ive always felt he was lying during the trial, especially with the maid that was testifying about him. That said, I do question the timing of his lawsuit.

Both. I think it's true that he was molested and it's now a money grab. I believe he was paid off many years ago to keep his mouth closed and now wants more.

He never should have lied about it (if he really was molested.) How could his testimony have changed things for other victims? He should be ashamed of himself.

As someone who's survived childhood sexual abuse, I can offer a few things.

At 20, you may think you can accept things, and it's okay.

When you have a child, or someone close to you has a child, you may start to re-think those ideas.

At 30, you realize how messed up you were by everything, and that keeping secrets is not good for your soul, no matter what you agreed to.

I love Wade Robson and have admired his work for many years. I hope to see him back where he should be, choreographing emmy winning pieces of art again soon.

You have it exactly on the money.

I have not been through this type of situation, but I do know the psychology of a victim is very complicated and most people don't understand or try to.

I don't think people realize how hard it is for a person to come out publicly with something so personal. Michael Jackson didn't steal his wallet, he sexually abused him. Especially with the pressure many men are under about being tough and emotionless. I really don't think this is a money grab but I'm sure I could be wrong.

To this day, I still don't believe Michael Jackson was ever a child molester. No one can convince me otherwise. I say let Michael J. rest in peace!

I can totally understand this thinking. I have known several people who were molested. It's a horrible abuse that haunts the person for a long time.

As for Wade Robson I have to question why he is suing Jackson's estate now except to get his name back in the public eye and/or for money. You can deal with a lot of things privately. As for keeping secrets, why come out so publicly and tarnish MJ's name (someone who can no longer defend himself). If Michael did abuse him, he is no longer a threat to anyone so it's not for the greater good/safety of others.

I have to think it's a money/attention grab as well. There were a lot of different ways he could have dealt/coped with this if he covered up this secret all those years. You can get closure without having to sue someone.

I agree. I believe that Wade was abused by Jackson. I also think his relationship with Jackson helped 'break' his career. I believe he felt he owed Jackson. I'm not sure the extent of the abuse but there was testimony that Jackson showered with Wade and I'm not sure Wade saw a huge issue with that until he grew up. It's like those idiot Ohio kids who didn't realize what they were doing was 'rape.'

That said. While I do think that Wade is now finally telling the truth. I also think he is likely broke and needs the money.

You know...it could very well be both true AND a money grab. That does feel like it's a whole lot more likely than strictly one scenario or the other.

I hadn't thought of it that way Tinkermomma and RadioNate.

I think it's true. I also think this is a money grab.

However....

If in fact it is true, any person who has subjected a child to sexual abuse should be punished. Regardless of how long it took the child to come forward. Many people who have been sexually or physically abused, fail to come forward for many reasons. Some lock that dark part of their life away, and move on. Some fool themselves into believing that it really wasn't what it WAS. This does not excuse the act that was committed upon them, and it shouldn't excuse the person who performed the act.

I certainly think that it will be harder at this point to prove his claim in a court of law. But, I think he should at least be given an opportunity in the courts to try and prove his case. Especially given the prior testimony that supported his claim. I wonder if the psychiatric evaluation he submitted was from his youth and supports his claim as well.

I'm sure that if his career was doing well and he was financially secure, he might continue to leave this past behind him. But, even if this is just a money grab, I'm sure that his life was hugely impacted by whatever abuse he suffered. So if he can prove his allegations, he definitely should be compensated, regardless of the reasons why he chose to come forward now.

Maybe he never talked to anyone about this, until the past few years? I know he has recently not been very active, and it wasn't because he wasn't getting offers. SYTYCD and Britney Spears both wanted him, be he stepped away...maybe he wasn't emotionally stable and finally went for helped? He also had a child a few years ago, so that could have been a trigger. I'm thinking once MJ finally passed away, he doesn't feel like he owes him any longer, and/or it triggered PTSD.

I doubt the guy needs money. He wrote songs for some of the biggest stars and was their tour director at age 20. He seemed to live modestly.

I believe he was paid off many years ago to keep his mouth closed and now wants more.

Bingo. Probably wasn't planning on MJ croaking so soon and figured he'd have many opportunities to go back to the well.
