VWL, WL Experts...What happended to the Geyser Sounds?

Tried this one on the resorts board a few days ago without a response. We were there from 1/1-1/10 and really missed the gurgling, whooshing, rumbling sounds that had accompanied the hourly geyser eruptions. I spoke with one of the lifeguards who was not very forthcoming. He chuckled and suggested that it had something to do with the gasses in the earths crust. Regardless, I was wondering if anyone else might know what happened to the sounds and when they might return.
