Just wondering how the meals were at Whispering Canyon at VWL? Our home is BW and we have never made it over to VWL and would like to try dinner as we are staying at the CTP our first night and want to finally check it out since we will be nearby.
We know Artist Point is having the 10 o/o off but thought it would be too much with the kids.
Thanks!

how is your sense of humor???

My brother loves it - he has a great sense of humor.

I on the other hand hate to be embassed period. but cm's figure this out pretty fast and they liked to be tipped - so if you like to be teased you have come to right place - if you don't make it plain immediately and you will be left alone (how I like it).

Our food wasn't bad - but for breakfast I like Cape May Cafe a little better. Dinner again it wasn't by any means the worst - but some of it was overcooked.

It is probably a little above average for WDW.

when we stay at VWL we ate there several times. So I must have liked more than I thought I did...

We didn't "get it" and were confused with the excitement going on around us. It was too "busy" for me and DH. I remember that our sons were with us, probably in their late teens, they may have added to the chaotic atmosphere, but we never went back.

We really enjoyed our meal there this summer. We all had the barbecue meal and it was good. The salad was incredible (dressing YUM).

The atmosphere is a lot of fun. They had little races around the room for the younger kiddos. Don't forget to ask for ketsup and a fork and straws. If you are into having a lot of fun, it is the place to go. If you get embarrassed easy and would prefer a quieter place to eat, think of another place!!!!!

It is on our to do list for each trip, now. We liked it a lot!!!!

Depends on you and your kids. If you're looking for a quiet place to have a nice meal....then Artist Pointe is your place. If you want the kids to have a great time with a dinner that fits right into the WL theming and some fun cast members, then WC is a great choice.

I think the food is average at best...but the entertainment is fun. My DD9 ended up standing on a chair leading the whole restaurant in the "hokey pokey".:p

If you want great food and a beautiful atmosphere, go to Artist Point. If you don't mind a little rowdiness and want some fun with your dinner (and average food), choose Whispering Canyon.

Friendly embarrasment seems to be the main draw at the canyon...we found the food to be mostly tasteless and greasy, but everyone's food tastes differ. The food got better with Ketchup. :)

The CM's pretty much clue in when the adults just want to eat, especially those that don't have kids with them...they also clue in when the adults want to torment their children, as my sister did when they went there for my nephew's 14th. :teeth:

Hope this helps,
Joe

We have been twice... both times i have had fish and it was very good. Dh and the boys had the all you can eat and felt that it was ok.. average.

Both times we went we were celebrating one of the kids b'days so it was grand fun...they got lots of people fussying over them and singing b'day songs, napkin hats and funny straws and big spoons. definately go for the fun...

We had dinner and breakfast there last trip and enjoyed both meals. Both times we had the skillet meals which were good. Definitely need to be able to handle noisy lighthearted humor but give it a try. I would compare it to 50s PTC as far as noise and humor are concerned. And like mosts meals at WDW go hungry.

We had steak there - not the all you can eat BBQ. The meal was plentiful - my husband and I could have split one steak. There are certainly better steaks at Disney, but it wasn't bad - think your local Outback steakhouse or TGI Fridays.

I wouldn't go out of my way for Whispering Canyon. But I wouldn't go out of my way for Boma or Spoodles again either, and yet they are a must do for a lot of people.

Haven't been to Artists Point, my husband and father have. My husband says the food is wonderful, but wait until the kids are older (they are currently 4 and 5). I know other people bring their kids there, but either their kids are better behaved, or they stress less about their kids bad behavior.

We always try to get one meal in at WC whether we stay there or not. Great times.

We had the all-you-can-eat BBQ, and we thought it was great. We eat there every year, once, and it's great fun. Artist's Point is wonderful, but no place for young kids--and $100 for two people is not out-of-line there. And Boma's is a "must", maybe not for kids, but definitely for adults. It's my favorite restaurant in all of Disney World, with Cape May a close second, but Whispering Canyon is in the Top 10 for us.:)

5 year old got a kick out of eating here and my 2 year old also enjoyed it. If you are outgoing ask for the ketchup. ;)

And if you want to get razzed, wear a Sea World or Universal Studios shirt or cap in there!! :p

The food is all right, and plentiful. I don't particularly like the raucous humor but my DH and DS think it is lots of fun so we usually end up going there at least once per trip.

Just realize it's a very raucous atmosphere and if you're OK with that you'll have a great time. My kids, DS 6 and DD 3, love it there. They make a point of asking for ketchup. My wife made the mistake of using her cell phone in the restaurant; the waitress announced to all diners at the top of her lungs to be quiet so my wife can finish her phone call. Have fun!!

That's bad but compared to what happened to me........you be the judge:
On my way back from the men's room our waiter (Mystery Man as he called himself) announced to the whole restaurant where I had just come from and wanted to know if I had washed my hands. (I announced to the restaurant something about his shrinking tip). He ended up making me go back to wash them again. You need a REALLY good sense of humor to go along with that one. My kids were going nuts because I always ask them the same question about washing their hands.

My family and I went there the day after my cousin's wedding (there was about 20 of us) we had such a wonderful time with the horse races, ketchup requests and joking with the waiter that 6 years later someone always mentions it when we are together.

Too bad they can't throw the flying pig down anymore!!!!!

For those of you who don't know what that was - every kid in the restaurant would follow some crazy waiter up to the top floor of the Wilderness Lodge and they would throw a stuffed pig with a parachute down into the lobby! The kids thought that was the funniest thing they had ever seen (especially since the adults were "making" them do it). Apparently something must have gone wrong - they don't do this anymore.

Go, bring your sense of humor and have a wonderful time!

We went there in April when DS was 1 1/2. Our server was great ...came right to our table and asked what he could get DS so he didn't have to wait. Then our server even sat at our table and colored and entertained DS so that DH and I could eat! It's a great place for kids and lots of fun too! DS still has his certificate he got for galloping around the room with a toy pony!
