VWL waitlist came through -- now what do I request?

Hello everyone. You are all always so wonderful with recommendations, so I thought I'd ask.

Our waitlist for a studio at VWL came through for late September. We've never stayed there before -- never even visited the resort -- so I'm not sure what kind of request to add to the reservation.

We like to be near the themed pool, but I don't want that to put us so far away from food and transportation. I've heard that some people get a view of the dumpsters now and then, and I don't want that. Any recommendations?

What do my DIS DVC friends typically request?

Near elevators!

However, 80% of the time we get " far from elevators." Often that's the dumpster view, or the other side of the dumpster. Those far down the hall facing dumpster or not, are dedicated studios. I guess the only way to avoid the view would be to get a 1 bedroom!

If you ask for a Lake View, you won't get the dreaded dumpster view. Now, keep in mind that you won't actually be able to see much of the lake, as there will be trees in the way, but at least you won't be looking at the dumpster!

We were there several years ago and had a lake view. Our studio looked out over the pools and docks with a view of the lake also. It was great and we enjoyed the electric parade on the lake each night from our balcony.

Yes, there are a few rooms like that. We had one once, but most of the time, the most you can see of the lake is a sliver. Glad to see that you were one of the lucky ones!

The villas aren't really near the themed pool. That pool sits behind the Wilderness Lodge and the VWL sits beside the Lodge. Granted, it's not far away. And be aware that the main WL pool will be closed from early Sept-late Nov for refurbishment. The quiet pool will remain open.

I ask for "near the elevator" and say "not rooms ending in xx60 or xx62" Those are the views of the sheds.

Thanks, everyone for the great suggestions! I heard that the main pool will be closed -- my guess is that's why my waitlist came through. That's ok -- we're fine with the quiet pool. We're hoping to get a day in at Typhoon Lagoon and another at Disney Quest, so the resort pool won't be a factor on this trip.
