VWL vs WL

We are thinking of buying into the VWL and are staying there this Sept. We have stayed at the WL many times, will i find staying at one of the villas a disappointment after being used to staying in the main lodge?

I don't know how you could be disappointed...mini kitchen in the smallest one, full kitchen in the one bedroom or larger, washer/dryer in the one bedroom or larger, more space in the room. I would love all the extras. You still have to come through the main lodge to eat, shop, etc.

We have stayed at the WL several times when we decided one time to rent DVC points and stayed at the VWL. We LOVED it. Rented a two bedroom and had family stay with us, but we still had our own room and privacy. I never did cook a full dinner but when on vacation, I try not to do that . Having the kitchen is great for breakfast. Washer and dryer right in the room! Loved that too (especially with 3 kids!)

Like webray said, you still have to go to the main building for alot of things. To me, it was more quiet at the villas. Pool was less crowded. Very nice to come back to at the end of a busy park day.

After staying at Wl several times and enjoying it so much I purchased at VWL and I am truly glad I did. You still are able to utilize the Lodge and there are quite a few quiet spots in the Villa's to relax after a busy day in the parks. I love having a w/d and a kitchen even if we only use it for bkfst. You get the best of WL with a little more space.

Boy do I know what you are going through...I went back and found my first post here on the DIS boards.

I also love the Lodge but trust me staying at the Villas is great so much room and well they are just beautiful. While I would love to stay every trip at the VWL I also enjoy still staying at WL as a matter of fact leaving tomorrow am for a week...(My points are gone for the year 3 other trips took care of them) So got a great rate and we are headed down...That's what I love about DVC ownership you don't have to wait on Disney to issue discount codes...you always know you will be able to schedule when you want to take your trips, then if a great discount code becomes available you can choose to use it or not. I also wasn't sure how much longer they would be offering the great rates. Now I don't need to do the code game.

Another option I use is staying Friday & Saturday nights at Wilderness Lodge then starting my DVC stay Sunday Morning..saves on points and we still are there at the Lodge.

MY First Post:
After reading thru all the forums this past week I finally decided to jump in...I love WL and on one trip with two of my nephews we sat and watched the villas being built. ( Years earlier I had toured OKW and had dreamed of owning a DVC membership) my dh and older nephew where at BB.....the little one was appx 3 yrs old, and it was nap time for him. He liked to be told stories so I told him about how we were going to buy a home right here at WDW and when he was older and a daddy he could bring his little boy to VWL and let him meet Mickey. The dream of ownership became real and when we visit he walks in just like he owns all of WL. He knows all about the points and loves to help plan our trips. I have made so many trips thru the years I'm not sure of the #....have stayed in almost all of WDW Resorts, for years Poly was my favorite until WL was built. When I arrive and walk thru the front doors I feel like I'm HOME. (Have also stayed at all other DVC resorts at WDW but only the WL feels like home) Sorry this is so long.....(my first post).....

Thank you all very much. It seems no matter where we stay each time, I always think I should be doing something else and that I am missing something..thanks again.
