We where just wondering if you had to make your choice all over again where would you want your home resort to be,VWL or the BCV. :earsboy:

VWL. I specifically bought before BCV went on sale (the day before) just to get VWL. I saw them both, and my wife and I agreed.

Of course, this is all just personal preferance. ALL of the DVC resorts are beautiful and I would not mind owning any of them!!!

If you ask me these two resorts are like night and day as far as decor goes so it really depends on personal preference. I am not an outdoor woodsy cabin type of girl at all. I prefer the bright atmosphere of Beach Club. I would most definatly choose BCV over WLV but that is just me and my personal preference. Not that both resorts aren't beautiful in their own way, WLV is just not for me! I am sure there are people out there with the opposite opinion.

We waited over a year to buy, because we knew that we preferred BCV to VWL. But, with that said, all of the resorts are nice.

If it depended on me,I might have waited for the BCV but since my DH needed to be convinced to even think of a DVC purchase, HE chose VWL. It was a big concession on his part to even think of buying into DVC so I would have agreed to any resort that he wanted. He will be going home for the first time this July. I hope he will love it and maybe even think of adding on at BCV! Wish me luck!

We bought at VWL because we love Christmas decor, easy boat ride into MK and Cresent Lake for the boating rentals. We will buy at BCV because Epcot is 5 minutes away.

Tough choice for sure. They both have their strong points and are very different for atmosphere.

Here are my thoughts:

VWL: The theme is great. We find ourselves walking around there with our mouths open and our heads on swivels. It hasn't gotten old. Since we have purchased there, we have stayed for 25+ nights over several trips and we still are impressed everytime we go back. We are from NH and we thought that if we wanted to see trees and that type theme we could see it up here. We were wrong. The theme is so impressive. Prior to our first visit, my wife was a bit reluctant and didn't think she would be thrilled. Within 20 minutes of being there she was taken back by it. We initially wanted a Florida-type theme with the bright colors and palm trees. The location: If you love MK, you will love the location of VWL. The boat is a quick hop right to the park. If you want to go to Epcot, hop on the monorail. We don't regret the choice. We added on again while we were there in August.

BCV: I can't wait to be able to comment on the stay there. We walked and saw as much as we could from the outside during our stay in February and it looks like it will be really nice. The theme is nice and the SAB is pretty cool. The location is awesome if you are a big Epcot fan. IMHO you have the benefit of being close to the boardwalk, but perhaps removed from the noise a bit. I could be wrong, but just an observation. We are excited for it. We did an add on there too. :D We originally wanted to get in on BWV but missed out. We wanted the option of the MK and Epcot location. We waited for it to open so we could have the location.

If I could only choose one based on theme, I think it would be hard, though I may lean towards VWL. HOWEVER, if you are really torn, I would base my decision on which location I like better. If you want to be by MK, then you would wish you bought at VWL and visa versa. I think that either one you choose, you can't go wrong.

Another thought: based on the points you plan to purchase, split between them both.

As always, good luck ad have fun!

DD57....

That's a fair question, and I am pleased that people are able to respond with positives and not get to the "resort bashing" stuff. Of course, this is the weekend DIS crowd which is probably a little more laid back. ;) ;)

For my family, the clear choice is VWL. We fell in love with Wilderness Lodge a few years ago and would probably have never considered DVC if not for the VWL.

For us, vacation to WDW is an escapism opportunity. Wilderness Lodge, with its amazing theming, provides an escape not only from our home in Missouri, but also from WDW itself. To me, to be located in Florida but transported back to the serenity of the Great Northwest after a hectic day in the parks is a great feature.

The BCV is great....location, theming and all are wonderful. We look forward to "sampling" BCV somewhere down the road. But our "home" will always be VWL.

VWL for sure

We waited 2 years for that place to open!! :D :D :D

PS I agree with Granny, this is a nice non-bashing thread :)

I couldn't agree more! When I read the post I was pleased to see it say focused on the ups... nice to see

Depends what you're looking for. We're partial to the Boardwalk area because it feels much more alive to us than VWL. However, it DEFINITELY is not a rustic stay in the woods;) ;) . If someone prefers the quiet and tranquillity of VWL, then they certainly should purchase there.
