Its time to book our 2005 vacation and this time we are thinking of staying at our home resort VWL.

The past trips we stayed at BWV and BCV. We loved being able to walk to Epcot and MGM, but we were not thrilled with the bus to MK from these resorts.

It seems most people report the boat transportation from VWL to MK is pretty good. What is it like getting to Epcot? On the map VWL looks like it is very close to the TTC. Is it really? Can you walk from VWL to TTC? There is just something about getting on a bus that I would like to avoid if possible - we don't mind walking especailly if its only a half mile or so.

You can't easily walk to TTC, but you can take a boat to either the Contemporary or MK, and catch the monorail from there. Have a great trip!

The boat ride to MK from WL and the WLV is simply wonderful. If you are a commando type then you will find that the transportation from WLV is slow. You can not walk and they do not want you walking to the TTC from WL. It would be outrageous even for the biggest commando on site. What happens to most DVC members is they stop being commando types adventually, they learn to slow down and enjoy. The boat ride like I said to MK for WL is one of the joys at WDW.

I've found the transportation at VWL to be excellent and have never had any problems that have been reported. You can not walk to the TTC from VWL, but this is the best way to get to Epcot. When you're at the bus stop, there is a bus that runs to the TTC. If an Epcot bus comes first, hop on, if the TTC bus comes (Crockett or Boone, I forget the names) hop on that one, and you'll get dropped off at the TTC and you can take the monorail from there. You do share buses with Fort Wilderness on a couple of runs, but it only proceeds to Pioneer Hall and back out, resulting IMO an extra 5 minutes going not coming from the parks. I also agree with you about the transportation from the Epcot resorts, it truly is horrible and the transportation from WL is MUCH better IMO. Of course, as you can see by my signature, we're staying at BWV this summer, not VWL, but wanted to try it out!!! Luckily, we're staying at GF before out BWV stay, so we'll get a lot of MK out of our system them, and hopefully avoid the MK buses for the most part!

We always stay during the busy summer months, and found the VWL/WL transportation to be very good. Our longest wait for a bus to a destination was about 20 minutes or so....normally it is under 10 minutes.

We did find the route to DAK to be somewhat tedious, with stops at Fort Wilderness and Typhoon Lagoon on the way there, and both of them on the way back too. So that was a bit laborious, but we could have driven to DAK if we really thought it was a big issue.

I think you'll find the VWL transportation to be very good. However, anyone can have a bad "transportation trip" at any resort....we've heard "complaints" about every DVC resort's transportation at some time or another. The only one we've found to be bad on multiple trips is the BWV, due to it's sharing with multiple other resorts and being at the "end of the line".

If you want to monorail to epcot, there is a bus that runs very regularly to the TTC, and this - to me - is actually easier than anything. Very short bus ride, then monorail = one transfer - boat to monorail, then change monorails = two transfers. I think the bus to ttc then monorail is the best way to get to epcot from wl - the epcot bus goes to Ft. wilderness first. But I'd hop on which ever one came first-

This would be true, but it involves doing two things which I don't find to be relaxing at all: taking a Disney bus, and going to TTC. ;) I much prefer to catch the shuttle boat to the Contemporary and then catch the monorail to Epcot, thus avoiding the bus and TTC. When we don't feel like taking the boat, we usually just drive over.
