Does anyone know if there are any studios still available through DVC at Wilderness Lodge Villas for Sunday 4/13 check-in and Friday 4/18 check-out? I have checked through regular CRO and they say yes, but a DVC member checked and they said "no". How can this be? If so, please pm me regarding renting the 95 points. Thanks!

CRO has different offerings than DVC. DVC has the points owned by members. CRO has the percentage of the resort owned by Disney available for cash reservations only. So, yes, there may be no availability for points, but availability for a cash reservation at Disney's price.

I guess I just have a problem with this as the villas at the Wilderness Lodge were built for the DVC!

However, DVD retains a portion of the resort for "breakage" and when they don't need these units to have the appropriate number of units available for members while they are doing renovation or whatever, CRO rents the extra units for their going price. All of the member inventory is apparently tied up in reservations. The only units available at this time must be those owned by DVD.

Evidently, you don't understand the full process of DVC and DVD.

You are asking for a reservation that most owners made 11 or 7 months ago.

No, what I don't understand or should I say "like" is that if there are villas available at all, then they should be made available to DVC members if they want them not just a per cash basis. By DVD holding a portion of the property, they are insuring that they continue to make a great deal of profit, as the studio I am looking for went for 95 points or $2100 cash. This is what does not impress me, I understand it fully.

As for making ressies 7 to 11 months ago, I made my own 2 weeks ago and was looking for another for my sister. So you don't necessarily have to make them 7 to 11 months in advance, and I do understand that VWL owners can make them 11 months in advance and other DVC property owners can make them 7 months in advance. Some of us do not have the luxury of scheduling our vacations that far ahead of time.

I spoke to some people who explained my question this way:
If DVC members use their points for stays at places other than DVC resorts (Poly, GF, etc.) or for a cruise, then some of the rooms at the DVC resorts are freed up for a per cash basis to make up for the points being used elsewhere. This makes the most sense to me. We are not yet inside the 60 day breakage window yet, so I didn't understand the philosophy behind this until now. Thanks scootch and dc!
