I am going to WDW the second week in October, but I can't decide between VWL and BWV. I am traveling with a 5 year old and a 1 year old. I need advice from anybody that has stayed at either of these places. Which is the best in regards to transportation? (especially to MK)!!!!

I think the VWL wins this! You have a choice of using the bus or the boat to the MK from the VWL. The bus may stop at another resort, but the bus stop is convenient to the villas. BWV shares bus routes with at least the S/D and it's a longer ride and usually a longer walk to the stop from the villas.

We have youngsters going on our VWL trip, the one mentioned below :goodvibes , and we own at BWV and VWL, and we picked VWL!

Chances are, MK will be your big park, so VWL wins. That said, if MGM and Epcot are where you will spend most of your time, BWV is a boat ride from both.

VWL is great for quick access to MK. Boats take you there in about 7 mins direct. If you have to go to FW 1st, then 15 mins. BWV is very close to Epcot and can be walked to or take a quick boat. MGM is close, but the boats make several stops before getting there. And walking with little ones is a bit of chore to/from MGM.

OK...That makes sense!!! Are the ammenities nice at VWL (such as pool, restaurants, etc.???

VWL is great for kids. It's fun to have the big gift store and Roaring Forks (anyone know when the rehab will be complete and if they will still have a drink station?) The pool by the villas has little spurts of water that shoot up from the bottom that kids love. Electric Light Parade on the water at night is fun and you can walk to Fort Wilderness.

Not having stayed at BWV, I cannot comment, but the trans at VWL is great. The boat to MK does go to FW first, but the total time to MK is minimal and when leaving MK, VWL is the first stop. The bus stop is right in front of the VWL and we never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus. It is true that the bus may make stops at Poly and GF first, but that's just part of the trip.

Another interesting way to get to Epcot is to take the mini-boat over to CR and then grab the monorail to Epcot. Take the local monorail and the next stop is the TTC and then switch to the Epcot monorail. It actually took us longer to get to Epcot by taking the bus than the boat/CR/monorail loop.

So when staying at VWL here is my choice for getting to the parks:

MK - boat
Epcot - miniboat and monorail
MGM - bus
Animal King - bus

Getting back to VWL is the same except for Epcot - we always took the bus cause VWL was the first stop on the way home.

Absolutly VWL!

We just returned from a split stay w/ 3nts at WL and then 3nts at BWV. We were so disappointed to leave the WL! Transportation to the Magic Kingdom was the best. At BWV, not only was the boat super sloooooow, it stopped at Swan/Dolphin and Yacht/Beach.

Also, considering atmosphere, the WL really seemed like a remote, well, lodge in the wilderness. On the contrary, BWV was like a very busy, noisy tourist place. But, I guess that's exactly how they're themed to be!

We'll be back - at the VWL in December!

The seven month window would have just opened, right? Make your decision quickly because both those resorts will book quickly. BWV due to the F&W fest going on at Epcot, VWL because it is the smallest DVC resort.

VWL, hands down.

You can take either the boat or the bus to the MK.

When we tried BWV in Jan '05, I was frustrated by BWV's tranportation to the MK and the AKL. They shared buses with the Swan and Dolphin.

Thanks to everybody for all of the great replies!!!! I went ahead and booked VWL and I think that I will be happy with this decision. Thanks again!

Great choice-- we're doing VWL with our two little ones (they'll be 3 and a few months short of 2) at the same time you are, so maybe we'll share a boat ride! :thumbsup2
