The naming configuration was changed for the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, so they are not the Wilderness Lodge Villas. It's VWL not WLV.

Ummm... Deb... glad you had a chance to get that off your chest!!! :p I'm guessing that you're tired of seeing posts about WLV???

Wheww. Yes, I feel much better now. Thanks.:teeth:

What? The name has changed? Oh well, my next trip is to the Villas at the Boardwalk anyway.;)

HBC

and I am going to the villas of beach club first week of April......

 i own at the bcv and my contract states i own at the bcv does that mean i still own at the bcv or vbc

all kidding aside, according to our 2004-2005 members guide book

its as follow:

Disney's Beach Club Villas = BCV

Disney's Boardwalk Villas = BWV

Disney's Old Key West Resort = OKW

Disney Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa = SSR

The villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge = VWL

Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort = HHI

Disney's Vero Beach Resort = VB

Does this mean Villas at the Resort of Saratoga Springs?

VRSS?

thanks

Is there something in the air in this room? Or is it the water?

Deb&Bill was not making a blanket statement for ALL DVC resorts...just VWL, because, it is the one resort which is most oft misnamed in posts on the DIS Boards.

I for one...would not mind staying at VOKW, VBW, VBC or VSSR... however, no such places exist ;)

Close, but you missed an 'S': Villas at the Resort and Spa of Saratoga Springs. VRSSS - pronounced with a snaky tone of voice. :p

Okay, I've got it now. Please be kind we are new and I was calling my home resort WLV but look I've finally got it right in my countdown! Aren't you proud?

Seems to me that there are more acronyms here, looks like time for an updated glossary.

The real question is...why did Disney change their naming convention for VWL only (ooo...I had to retype that because WLV just pops right out)? For those who are not overly particular about the "correct" naming...and base their acronyms on the acronyms on the rest of the resorts...WLV makes a lot more sense. I guess I am saying that it is *natural* for folks to use WLV.

WLV will always be called that by me. We have a few country clubs in this area that have done the same thing. I think they think it makes it sound more exclusive by saying the title in reverse from most others. I never bought into the VWL thing by Disney, I still refer to them as WLV. Sorry!!:smooth:

Well, since they are not in the Lodge, they are not Wilderness Lodge Villas. Beach Club Villas are indeed in the "Beach Club" (which sounds as though it is defined by area), and Boardwalk Villas are on "The Boardwalk".

The "Lodge" sounds like a very defined place, and unless the villas are actually in the Lodge, it would not make sense to call them "The Wilderness Lodge Villas"... in my opinion.

Also, the railroad hotel theme of the villas is complimentary to the Lodge. The railroads were in charge of building hotels in the great Northwest (and other places), so the railroad hotels were actually the pre-cursor to famous lodges such as The Old Faithful Inn.

I suppose if we're getting technical, they should be:

Disney's Beach Club Villas = DBCV

Disney's Boardwalk Villas = DBV (no "w" really in there!)

Disney's Old Key West Resort = DOKWR

Disney Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa = DSSR&S

The villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge = VDWL

Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort = DHHIR

Disney's Vero Beach Resort = DVBR

We do have that nasty tendency to drop Disney's name out of things (ref: Animal Kingdom & MGM Studios). :p

Oh, and let's not forget that most of these homes are located at WDWR.

You lost me here. How are the BCV any more in the Beach Club then the villas at WL are in WL? They are both seperate buildings.
Personally I think WLV sounds better than VWL but that is just my 2 cents.

2nd that one - BCV is real close to BC but still a separate building

BWV is attached to BWI so they can share names - that is ok with me :p

Well, I can see how I may have confused you. My thought process is that "Beach Club" is a theoretical area without boundaries, and not a defined space. Since the Villas are part of the resort area, they seem to be part of that theoretical area.

On the other hand, The Lodge is a specific, physical structure. Since the Villas are not in that structure, they are not in the Lodge... they are 'AT' The Lodge.

I hope that made more sense...
