DH & I are wanting to renew our vows for our 20th anniversary; and we want to do it at Disney. :bride:

For those of you who have already renewed their vows and for those still planning yours...tell me your plans! We have a few ideas, but I'm always interested in other ideas.

Where did/will you have the ceremony?
How many people?
Did you have a reception afterwards?
What did/will you & your husband wear?
Which package did you use?
Did you need a new wedding license?
Did/will you have music at your ceremony?
How long did you plan your event?
When was your event?

We're leaning towards the Escape package and are looking at having the ceremony at the Poly. DH wants to have it on the beach. I think only 8 people are allowed for the ceremony. Which is probably ok for us. We're also looking at having it in April 2011 (around the 13th - which is our actual anniversary). Does anyone know if it will be crowded two weeks BEFORE Easter?

I'm planning on calling Disney and getting all the details but I was curious as to what everyone had done so far.

Thanks in advance!!

we will have our VR this july for our 20th as well. I added responses below...good luck:goodvibes

Hi.
We are planning a VR at SeaBreeze Point May 4th 2011
We are doing the Escape package and probably a brunch reception. Venue to be decided. We are also hoping for a dessert party in Morocco. I have already booked Randy Chapman for photography and paid his deposit. We will be using the violinist which comes with the Escape package and probably an I-pod set up for the reception.
We are a small party of between 11 and 15 and are travelling from the UK.
I have a traditional gown (which I didn't at my wedding) and DH will be hiring a suit from Carolyn Allen's. My daughter will be MOH, my older son will be my escort and my younger son will be ring bearer/DH's supporter.
I am 47 and went through a lot of soul searching as to whether I was 'too old' for a gown etc, but figured I would have what I really wanted this time as I didn't for my wedding. I also figured that this will probably be my last chance to be a princess and, right or wrong, I am going to grab it with both hands!!! I know that sounds sad but there you go!!!
You don't need a new license, but may need to produce your original marriage certificate.
Good luck and have fun planning. I am having a ball organizing my big day!!!!

I debated about a gown too but figured if I was getting remarried for a second time to someone else, alot of brides wear gowns then so just because it the same groom why not.... our dds will be our bridesmaids and some other family kids will help with various roles(guestbook, greeter, usher etc) how often can they say "I was part of a wedding in wdw...":goodvibes

Jumping in here (hope that's okay!) ... we're in the early stages of considering a vow renewal for our 20th anniversary in October 2011. Our wedding/honeymoon were a nightmare (we don't even look at our wedding photos or have any up in the house) and Dh and I feel like this would be a beautiful do-over 20 years later. ;)

We would do the Escape package. I'm not sure if we would have family there or not ... some live in the Orlando area, some are planning on traveling with us next year and would probably be open to changing dates, and then I'm waiting to hear from my parents if they'd go. If everyone says yes, then we'd have 13 of us total.

If my parents say no, I wouldn't do anything with family, because I wouldn't want only "half" of them there. So then I'm not sure we'd do one at all ... I'm afraid it might feel sort of sad if it was just dh, me and ds (though ds keeps telling me the 3 of us are all that really matter -- gotta love that kid!).

I don't think I'd wear a wedding dress (but I think yours is beautiful, padisneyfour!) and we'd probably just do a group dinner after the renewal.

As I said, we're still just in the "thinking about it" stage ... the big thing is whether my parents will agree to go. After I have their answer, I can move forward (or not!).

In the early stages..... We actually started with that plan not sure how many would travel with us etc not sure what to do but figured we would do it regardless and let family know we were planning for this early. pretty much everyone is planning on coming which really has surprised me in a good way..... good luck!

Thank you too about the dress.

I have recently ordered it from a bridal store near me (not from the website I stole the pictures from!!!) and I totally love it

WOW! your dress is stunning.....

Thank you so much!!
I have been dieting like crazy and have so far lost 24 pounds and I want to loose some more. I need to return to the boutique in November and see if any alterations are necessary.

Thank you all for your responses!

padisneyfour and tinkerbell 766 I LOVE your dresses! Absolutely gorgeous! I'm thinking of something simple though (at least that is what I am trying to go for). :rotfl2: I love weddings and love to help friends who are planning their kids' weddings.

Ours would most likely be very small; just the two of us and perhaps a couple of friends. Neither DH nor I have any family (my parents have passed away, I'm an only child and no aunts/uncles/cousins to speak of or that I am close to except one) and DH's mom passed away and he's not close to his siblings or his father (although he mentioned inviting his dad since his dad missed our actual wedding).

So pixie921 I say GO FOR IT! Whether it is a bunch of family or just the two of you and your son - that's all you need. Your son is very smart! DH & I have said from the beginning - it's he & I "together against the world".

We're still in the planning stages too. We had the big wedding already so we want this to be not as big. A couple of our friends have already said they would attend which will be nice. DH has said he wants to do it on the beach (probably at the Poly) and would wear a Hawaiian shirt and kakis, but I'm leaning towards a simple gown (but with no train or a very small train) with some flowers in my hair. Simple but elegant (and a bit fun).

I've also thought about dragging DH for the MK shoot! Our wedding pics were a disaster and we ended up going to a photo studio months after we got married so we could have some nice pictures. Those are the only ones we have hanging in our house plus some nice shots that friends took.

Thanks for the encouragement! :goodvibes My parents have been discussing it, and dad has promised to let me know today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because it would be nice to have them there if possible. If not, I'm really thinking we'll do it anyway. ;)

I love the idea of Sunset Point at the Poly. That would be my first choice, but I think we'd have about 3 people too many, and I understand they're pretty strict about limits. I like Seabreeze Point, too, but since we'd all be staying at BLT, I was worried getting there might be too much of a hassle.

You should definitely do the MK photo shoot! The ability to have one is my dh's favorite things about having the DFTW renewal. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your upcoming 20th Anniversary. Hubby and I renewed our vows for our 20th in a small ceremony in our front room with the children present. However, our 25th Anniversary is coming up and we have planned a Disney trip and cruise and will be renewing our vows.

Where did/will you have the ceremony? We have chosen to be married at Paradise Cove Beach in Orlando

How many people? Just he and I and quite possibly one other couple

Did you have a reception afterwards? We are having Disney Decorate our Room and our Coordinator is getting a Heart Shaped Cake for us and we will have our own small intimate candle light dinner and cake. We thought about booking the wishes cruise if we could find other couples to split the cost with.

What did/will you & your husband wear? I have decided to wear a Knee Length Coral Colored Dress, with a Bright Tropical Flower in my hair and a bouquet of Bright Tropical Flowers. My husband will wear a pair of Black or Khaki Dress Slacks and white dress shirt and coral colored neck tie and or cummerbund.

Which package did you use? I chose an offsite ceremony as I could coordinate it like I want. My Wedding Planner is setting up transportation from the Disney Resort to Paradise Cove and back after the ceremony.

Did you need a new wedding license? No, for vow renewals you only need your regular Wedding License to prove that you are in fact married.

Did/will you have music at your ceremony?Yes, we will be creating our own CD and the Coordinator will be providing a Boom Box to play the music with.

How long did you plan your event? I have just got the ball to rolling.

When was your event? It is scheduled for October 22, 2012 our 25th Wedding Anniversary.

We wanted a Sunset Ceremony but the venue wanted to charge us $500 extra for scheduling at Sunset, so we chose a 4 p.m Ceremony. It will be just as nice though.

I saved money by having my Coordinator or her assistant take photos with our camera vs a Professional Photographer and by Using our own music vs Professional. I have gotten an all inclusive package, venue, flowers, transportation, decorations, cake and coordinator for close to $2500 total. So I do not think we did too bad. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

That sounds like it's going to be great! :goodvibes

And for me, my parents called today and gave the thumbs-up to coming to WDW for our renewal! :yay: So I guess now once I make sure everyone else in on board, it's a go for Oct 2011! :thumbsup2

Pixie.
Hi and welcome!!
Your plans sound lovely!!
Can I ask what reaction you got when you contacted DFTW? I have been told it is not worth speaking to them before a year out for an Escape, because you can't book before 8 months and my Escape is May 2011 so I haven't spoken to them yet. Should I ring now do you think?
Lily,where is Paradise Cove?
