if you aren't there, would they put it in the fridge for you? Or do you wait to have delivery until you are there, or just avoid perishables? I was thinking of getting yogurt.

Probably depends on where you are staying. We stay at our condo everytime and they put away our groceries for us. Makes my hubby one happy guy. He loves coming back to a cold beer. :rotfl:

We had an issue on July 17. The Vons driver called me while we were on our way to DLH via the Disneyland Resort Express from LAX and said he couldn't leave the beer and wine just the groceries b/c the bell hops at DLH wouldn't accept them.

I wasn't happy b/c I'm pretty sure there was an issue with when I said to deliver it, but I digress, I called the bell hops directly and they said no problem since we were on our way. I guess the Vons driver was standing there when I called, so when I called him back he said it was all set. So you may have issue, or you may not ;) Super helpful I know, but this was my experience!

My understanding is that the Disney properties will hold (and refrigerate) anything for guests other than alcohol. Occasionally they break the "no alcohol hold" rule, but the official line is that you have to sign for anything that has an age requirement.

It's been the policy for something like at least 2 years now, that they won't deliver alcohol unless you are there. You got pixie dusted by Bell Services, because normally they don't deliver it.

That's just for delivery right? We are always ON property when we check in before our room is ready & usually bring case of wine with us. They always keep in storage along with our bags, other foods and such with out any problems.

Correct. They don't care if you bring your own. There are just rules about having alcohol delivered. If you are having wine (or any other alcohol) delivered, you'll need to be there to sign for the delivery.

They will refridgerate it for you :) If it's your first purchase/delivery then your delivery will be free so stock up on your groceries to save some money. I was very pleased with the service from Vons and GCH

That's what the driver said, that someone has to sign for it. I was happy they said it was fine and they didn't seem surprised or bothered by it at all.

Everything was refrigerated (we had milk, too) and they ended up holding it until around 6 p.m. that evening b/c our room wasn't ready when we got there. I gave them a nice, big tip because I understood this was "special".

This is great to know. I never even knew that they delivered to the hotels:thumbsup2

How does this work? Do you just give them the hotel address and your name? (Since you wont have a room number yet) Do you schedule a delivery time? Does the bell staff know to hold it, or do you have to coordinate with them? We aren't ordering any alcohol so signing for it shouldn't be a problem.

I'd love to know how this works, also.

I'm assuming you have to sign up on their website first? Is the food normally priced, or really expensive?

thanks!

If your delivery doesn't include alcohol, you don't need to be present for delivery. They have a fridge at bell services.

I believe I did have to register to order, but that wasn't a big deal since I knew I was placing an order. Von's is a large chain, and there prices seemed pretty average compared to what we pay at home. You are able to shop sale prices when you order. When thinking about what is expensive and what isn't, consider the price compared to what you'd be paying in the parks, just buying a case of water, soda and a few pounds of fresh fruit is a huge savings! :) :)

You give them the hotel name and address. You schedule a delivery time, which I think was in hour windows. I coordinated with the bell staff because we had alcohol. I told the bellman that I'd be in the lobby, and he called me on my cell when they arrived. The bellman loaded everything onto the cart, I signed for the alcohol, and the bellman pushed the cart away. When we were able to get into our room later in the afternoon, I called down and they brought it all up. Easy peasy!

If you aren't getting booze, you can take out the middle step of being there to sign for it completely!

That's great! Thank you. There won't be any alcohol in our order.

Thank you for the great information. Staying at the GCH and was looking for a grocery delivery option. Was dreading the thought of giving up Disney time to go grocery shopping :)

Dumb question... so when I register at Vons.com, do I register with my own address (in Arkansas) or the hotel's address? Is there a place when you place the order to define where you want your purchase to be delivered?

Thanks

I've heard people say as soon as possible so you can get your desired delivery window, but if you're not ordering alcohol it sounds like it doesn't really matter.

I also have a question - how far in advance should we place the order?

If the system is the same as it was last winter, make your basic order and book your window as soon as possible. The system allows you to tweek your order until the day before and it guarantees the best selection of times.
