To those who are upset about not getting into the competition, please don't take away the good feelings those who won are having right now. This is not the place to air your feelings.
I thought the rooms that won were amazing! Lots of Dis peeps! Nice to see that! Woohoo!

It's obviously confusing, but it's my opinion that only the Winners will be given the "participation" prizes.

Why? The Top 10 Pin is listed, and we're not all going to get that.

Historically, this is a pin that has never had much to do with the event it is awarded for. (The words on it actually read "High Score/Top Ten".) Pretty sure there were more than 10 winners in the other competitions, yet they all received this pin.

I'm guessing that VMK simply extended this "generic" prize pin to all of the participants this time. Unless they made a brand new pin, which I highly doubt.

Heres the Way i Look at it, The Grand Prize winners get their prizes, then The Runner up's and Grand Prize Winners get the Winter Hat, Shirt, Top Ten Pin, Etc. and They will probably give out a type of pin or something for everyone else, Or Maybe they only wanted the Top Ten Pin and the Clothing to be part of the Grand Prize and Run Up Prizes.

As for the prize - it sure sounds like the "participation prize pack" is for everyone that, um, participated. Time will tell.

Also, congrats to everyone that built something they are proud of - 30 out of 2000 cannot be an easy selection process. Great work everyone!

The winners' prizes were cool, but not as special as the prizes for the last competitions.

What irked me is that everyone who participated gets a Top Ten pin. Why? Because they were among the first 2,000 to notice the home page announcement? Shouldn't the top ten pin go to those whose work was recognized as being among the best?

I'm thinking we should all wait to see if that's the case before we say anything.

The participation prize is for everyone. If they suddenly change their minds or put out an error, I know more than a few people who will be upset. I think giving so much to everyone is their way of acknowledging the hard work and credits spent on rooms.

Well the top ten pin is not tradeable. And if you look at the amount of players 2,000 entries would put you in the top ten. What I like is that we are not just getting a pin but a piece of clothing though not tradeable it is nice to have something unique to wear.


Also I think the room quality was much higher than in previous events so I am sure there was a lot of back and forth negotiating with hosts and other staff.

I took pics Of all the rooms I thought were amazing just as good or if not better in my opinion that never made the list. So I think this is to make everyone feel good.

I think VMK is beginning to understand how small 33 prizes are and trying to acknowlege the whole group.

My take on it? I think VMK goofed big time... I really really think the unique costume and the top 10 pin were for the WINNERS. The participation prize was supposed to be the set of 4 orange gumdrop chairs (which the winners would also receive).

Let's face it, having a unique costume and the pin are a whole lot better than winning a holiday room that they all most likely have a few of already in their inventories...

Somehow the prizes were lumped together. Will be interesting to see how VMK sorts this mess out now without a HUGE outrage from VMK participators....

Well the best way around this is to find another unique costume for the winners and then give the other participants the blue jacket and beanie.

I must say that the lack of complaining is very noticeable with the prizes they annouced for the participants. Maybe VMK should take note on this.
Some how losing does not seem so bad when you are rewarded nicely.

Also 30,000 credits for grand winners is not shabby at all

Very very true. But none of us are quite sure yet if we were "rewarded nicely"...

I'm reading that the participation prizes go to everyone. It lists the indiviual prizes for both the winners and the runners-up. Then it lists that they also will get those participation prizes.

But, however they give out the prizes, I never expected anything more than the flag sitting in my room now.

So I'll be happy if we get something else, but I won't be disappointed if we don't.

However, they have always given out an additional prize to all of the participants. In the water slide building competition, we all got a blizzard beach chair just for participating. I can't recall completely what they gave for the participation prize during the space race competition (I was one of the runners up and got a green rocket, as Aengus kindly reminded me last evening), but I'm sure everyone got something.

I think that the grand prize winners got a very nice prize with the credits and the five star confetti magic (that alone is worth 80,000 credits).

I'm sure VMK will clarify everything

I know that the flag is only for the judgement but it is already something you have for having worked on your room and registered in the competition, I know some ppl who only participated to get the flag. I mean even if they would not give you a participation prize it is something you have in more than other ppl. It is not like if the flag was removed from the inventory after the judgement ^^

That's what I think too. If we're right, it's sad to think of all the millions of credits 1,967 people spent on their rooms only to get nothing for participating. It stinks and hurts to lose, but at least before you knew you got a little something for effort. So much for that, I guess.

I agree. Credits don't come cheap these days for sure. Most, have to work their behinds off for them! And, especially during a Holiday month where we had tons of other things to buy as well as having to buy, prepare and create for a competition.

I too didn't expect to win. That's okay, I'm not hurt or mad. But, to be recognized someway for my efforts would be nice. I can't wear a flag.

I do hope you are right. I'm not greedy. I would be fine with just a pin, since I am a vmk pin collector.

A flag is basically a reminder to the Hosts that our rooms were judged already. This is not something that you can wear on your virtual person. I don't really consider it a 'participation prize' ?
