I didn't think performance was all that bad, but did notice a couple of mistakes in various posts, so I hope my responses at least clear up some confusion.

Was it just me or did that foam finger look like a mickey hand?! We get, you're not a Disney girl anymore, but that is messed up!

You guys think its revolting or disgusting what she is doing. I think it's disgusting that you watch this garbage in the first place. By supporting MTV and watching this "award" show that has no place on the now musicless channel, you only enable all the talentless garbage like Miley Cyrus or whomever.

It's simply a promotional vehicle paid for by the record companies. The same 5-7 people are nominated for and/or win every "award". The shock value performances increase media exposure and record sales. Why not support a full music and art instead? I guarantee you'll be less disgusted by people who actually have some talent.

I don't think there is any room to complain if you're watching the show in the first place.

I've been seeing a lot of controversy about that on TV. He denies ripping the song off, then reportedly offered Marvin Gaye's family a settlement amount in the six figures which they then turned down. If he didn't rip the song off why is he offering them a six figure settlement?

MTV's target audience is the youth aged from 12-24 years. If you are feeling old watching the VMAs, it's because you are probably outside this demographic.

Strange, I know. I just read this. 12 seems way too young and most of the artists are in their 30's aren't they?

I have seen a couple of interviews with girls younger than 12 on TV that are dissing Miley. One was 8 yrs old.

I think I'm less disgusted about the performance and more sad. I do think Miley Cyrus is a talented girl. As an adult I actually loved watching Hannah Montana. She was precious and actually funny! I wasn't a fan of her music persay but she was a young girls hero.

She's caving......caving to the pressures that come with fame and fortune. She might be making money but at what cost. She's losing her soul.

I tell you who I miss in the mainstream. Janet Jackson. That girl could sing AND dance.

There has always been a shock value on the VMA's. Is people up in arms because Miley USED to be a Disney character? She hasn't done that in years. Her new video which is almost exactly like the show lastnight should have been a clue.

As for the Robin Thicke, the foam finger was in his Blurred Lines video as well. Has anyone seen this video? The unrated version has the women topless. I promise that those girls are the same exact age of Miley.

About the twerking, I remember years ago when Baby Got Back came out and people were just about to have heads explode because women were "dropping it like it's hot." This is no different and I see it all over from cheerleaders at sporting events to a formal dance from the young girl crowd. This not just a Miley being trashy but the way ALOT of young people and not so young people are dancing. Too bad a lot of people can't peek in at their college children's parties to see it.

Was the whole thing dumb? Hell yeah it was dumb but it was also boring and expected. Personally I really like Robin Thicke but think that Elvis called and wants his hair and suit back now.

the VMAs have been a mess for years. i think some of it really has to do with the fact that they don't even SHOW music videos anymore, so why do people want to watch? so they have to make it outrageous and crazy.

Miley is just trying so hard to get attention, that's all it is.

the only decent part of the night was Justin Timberlake's mini-concert that he got to do. was nice hearing some of his older stuff.

Its definitely your highschooler/college/20 something. I know many 20 somethings that like Miley....Whats funny is she tweeted @MileyCyrus My VMA performance had 306.000 tweets per minute.That's more than the Superbowl! #fact.
