Visual Inspection

We were there for our "visual inspection" two weeks ago. We had taken an after break from the parks and all of us were taking a nap. I awoke to a knock at the door. I guess he saw that I looked sleepy and the lights were off. He said he would come back later. I assume that he did, but saw nothing amiss later. I do know that housekeeping takes "trash & towels" seriously as our beds were never made during our six day trip. I was fine with them not touching our stuff!

I made the request to be not disturbed during our stay here at Vero and was told that this is not an option and they they would enter our room daily and they will not budge. After a quick internet search I found the article below:

https://www.smartertravel.com/new-disney-policy-puts-security-privacy/

excerpt from article and Disney’s revised terms of service: “The hotel and its staff reserve the right to enter your room for any purposes including, but not limited to, performing maintenance and repairs or checking on the safety and security of guests and property.”

The front desk informed me that although housekeeping is not provided they will be in your room to do a visual inspection every day. A person was just here for the visual inspection and have say it was unnerving when they requested to peak into the bedroom In our 1-bedroom villa. This just feels intrusive and weird and have never felt my privacy being violated in our previous 12-years of DVC ownership.

Pretty much the expected answer
Disney is not alone in this policy by the way
Lowes chain has a sign at check in with a similar worded policy
Pretty much anyone reserves the right to enter their property

We just stayed at the AKL last week and got housekeeping every other day. They changed towels, emptied trash and made the beds, but I'm pretty sure the sheets weren't changed, as my daughter ate food in the bed and got some on the sheets and the stain was there the whole week. On the days that we didn't get housekeeping, a gentleman would knock on the door and ask if we needed anything, but he never actually came inside the room.

I don’t disagree that at all but do question being that it’s a deeded property of which I hold the ownership of the deed, is it not my property when I am staying here? To me renting a hotel room like Loews mIshtar be a different matter. Just a curious and maybe they should drop the “Welcome Home” greeting otherwise as our experience this trip certainly doesn’t feel very “homey”. Probably like any other homeowners association and rules that one might but into I suppose.

I’m still stuck on “Can I peak in your bedroom”….it just felt gross.

My guess is that they came into your room while you were away. I will admit we have been in our room more than usual this trip do to the high heat and humidity, so may have just missed them in years past. We were told by the front desk that they come in every day for several years now for the sole purpose of the visual inspection, which is in addition to trash or cleaning service.

The people posting here in this forum are a bit naïve. They Seem to forget of all the dangerous things that happen in the world, and how privileged their lives are.

The major driving reason for the visual inspections is kidnapping or worse sex trafficking children, or yes, stockpiling weapons in a room.

Disney hates interrupting guest and they only do it when safety is a concern. My own concerns led me to this forum, and yes, I am very uncomfortable when they come in, but it’s a necessary evil, when there is very very evil people in this world.
