Hi all,
As much as I am wanting to visit the 3 Broomsticks on our upcoming trick, I have the say the lunch/dinner menu just doesn't appeal to me and the bad reviews have scared me away from the breakfast....so

is there a good way and a best time to visit and sit to appreciate the ambiance without a long wait and without ordering a meal? I thought about maybe stopping by in the later evening for a dessert/coffee or something, is that feasible? Does it ever slack off from the crowds? We are staying onsite August 2-6 so I have plenty of time to go whenever. thanks.

Sure, you can go into the Hogs Head and purchase a butterbeer. Then sit down and enjoy it while you enjoy the atmosphere.

I quite enjoy their breakfast. It is just pricey.

I had planned on having a butter beer there, but isn't the restaurant separate? Am I missing anything if I don't go the actual restaurant? If we did reconsider doing the breakfast - I had planned on doing early entry at 7am, trying to do Ollivanders and FJ and then going to breakfast after (that way in case I get motion sickness on FJ I won't have to worry about barfing up eggs:crazy2:) Does that sound like a good plan? If I can get a ressie through the hotel I would make it for 8:30 or so.

They are attached. Not conpletely separate, just a half wall if that makes sense. Every morning we grab a butterbeer in Hog's Head and sit in Three Broomsticks. You won't need a reservation or anything. We have never eaten there and I've been there countless times!

Hmm don't think i would take stock in bad reviews, you can't please everyone. I have not had one bad meal at universal, although the cheaper hamburger spots are not that great, typical theme park food, but the better restaurants are great IMO. I would try the breakfast there, I doubt you would be that disappointed worse case scenario.

i have read more good reviews than bad for the 3 B's.

current reviews, those less than 3 months, usually are a good indicator of how satisfied guests are about eating there.

Besides the Hogs Head, I've also just gone thru the line for 3 broomsticks and ordered a desert to snack on or a butterbeer/pumpkin juice/pear cider to munch on or drink.

The restaurant is ultimately just a Counterservice location, so you are welcome to walk in at any time and have a seat or grab something.

We stopped in last Tuesday morning. My son ordered a butterbeer from the bar and my DH and I order a regular beer...yes it was still breakfast time, but day 1 of vacation, LOL!

We sat at one of the tables in the bar. It did not have a reserved sign on it, like all of the tables in the 3 broomstick area.

Shortly after a man that worked there came over to the table and said that only those eating breakfast can sit there, but since no one was using the table we could stay. If he needed it, he told us he would ask us to move. It didn't happen, though.

On another night, we went back and my son ordered the rib platter. He wasn't impressed. The corn was soggy, the potatoes had a strange spice to them and the ribs were ok. Honestly for 14.99, I'd rather eat at Mythos anyday (or any other table service restaurant for that matter)!!! There were plenty of available tables and none are reserved after breakfast.

We ate breakfast there this past May and enjoyed it. The people sitting next to us though just had butterbeers.
