We just returned from a week at Vistana and I have to say that I was quite disapointed in the facility. First we arrived after 18 hours of travel (I live in Europe) only to be told that they had no record of our reservation and were fully booked. This was despite the fact that I had completed the express check in form on the computer and had confirmed our reservation by phone with the front desk 3 days before we left. When I showed the clerk at reception the copy of the email from Vistana confirming my reservation she "suddenly" found us a room in the Spas section. I had been assured of a room in the cascades section but none were available given the reservation mixup. I was very disapointed in the room. It was shabby, dated and smelled funny. The maid service was even worse. One day we received no towels and the next no one came to clean at all until after I phoned (after 5 pm) to ask when the room would be cleaned. Additionally, the stock up food ordered from the General store never showed and I had to go to the store and pick it up myself (and I was charged a delivery charge for my trouble).

They really tried to sell us timeshares calling every morning until we finally got fed up and said not interested.

What was the most amazing thing to me was that no one apologized for the foul ups and they did nothing to rectify the situation.

I will never go there again and I will certainly never recomend this property to anyone else.

Jane, did you rent through Vistana or through an owner? Also, did you have your reservation number? Yes, from what I have heard the spas and courts are not very nice. I am going in May, hope this is not how my experience will be.

I rented through hotelkingdom.com and had a copy of my reservation number with me. It was only after I showed the clerk at Vistana the number that they managed to get me a (very substandard) room.

I am really sorry you had a bad time. From everything I had read and people had said I thought that this would be a nice place for you and your family.

Hi- I feel the same way as Jane, about the
Vistana. Stayed there in June of 2000 and it
was terrible. The unit was old, dirty and the
sheets had not been changed after the last
guest left. We ordered a highchair and when
it was delivered it was filthy--so we sent it back
immediately. Never again will we stay there.
We had traded a timeshare in Vail for this, big
mistake.

That is just awful!! I would definitely write to management at Vistana, but I wouldn't stop there... they were recently acquired by Starwood... write to them immediately!! They will get you results, I'm almost certain of it... I don't know the email address for Starwood, just go to the www.sheraton.com website, I think it is there.... Definitely do some writing or emailing!!

that the worst sections/rooms are being "saved" for those that rent thru so called discounters hotelkingdom, etc. That would keep me from using a discounter if this were the case or avoid the property altogether.

did you stay at the vistana resort or vistana villages? Just reserved at the villages and wondering.

And got a beautiful, new Cascades unit as well as a discounted price. If Starwood wants to sell these timeshares they won't have much luck if they put you in an old unit. I would say that you were put in the Spas because of the screwup. I had great luck with Hotel Kingdom and the Vistana resort. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. They should have made things right. I would write/call and see if they want to fix things. Good luck.
