Hi,

we have booked the Vistana Resort for the first week of February. We are 4 adults and my DS who is 5. We like to be fairly close to his activities, as it is easier to just walk him outside when he needs it. But, we we want to stay in a nice room (read newer?) Hopefully we will get some pool time, and DH would like to be able to get a cocktail while lounging at the pool (then he feels like he is on vacation.)

Can any one make suggestions on area's? What the pool is like in those area's? Other amenities close by (i.e. playgroung, etc.)?

It sounds like most people have had good luck with the Cascades area for getting a clean, well appointed room. Any other area's? and I hear that only some of the units have elevators? Would we be better requesting a ground floor?

Any other information about Vistana Resorts, tips, etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks, shelly

Cascades is the newest section and we stayed there last time we went. Very nice and near the main pools etc. The second newest section is the Lakes but this section is towards the back of the resort but still near nice pools (we stayed there before and it was nice too, quieter)..I have heard good of the Spas section too. One to stay away from is the Courts as they are old and not kept up to par as much as the newer sections.

It sounds like Cascades would suit you best if you want newer, we own in Spas which are older but a bit bigger, between the Super pool and the General store. The pool at Cascades is super for children, mine are 5 and 8, they need to swim for Super pool as its deep all over. the newer blocks are taller and have lifts, the older ones are 2 or 3 storey but with no lift. The pool bars do great cocktails, my husband has promised me that when we arrive on Valentines day we will go straight over to the pool and get a Mudslide!
We preferred the spas area as its lower buildings and the landscaping is more mature, but it is still close to everything.

We own in Fountains and in Cascades. While it is true that Cascades is newer, there is really nothing wrong with most of the older sections, IMHO. We stayed in Spas this summer, in Cascades the year before, in Fountains, and in Lakes the two years previous. We haven't had a bad stay in any of those.

I too prefer the Cascades pool, but it can be a little busy sometimes. Really all of the pools have something to recommend them. When you get there you'll be given a map and it's pretty comprehensive. You'll be OK no matter which pool you choose. However, if laying around drinking cocktails (that's what I like!) poolside is what you're after, the Super Pool is my favorite, cause Zimmies Restaurant is right there and they have great food too.

Have a great time!

As others have mentioned the Cascades is the newest area but considered yourself warned, I would try to avoid a unit that backs up against the highway (535 or 536 I always get these 2 confused). We were placed in one of these units in early December and thankfully the resort was not full and we asked to be moved later that night due to the noise. We enjoyed this resort but based on only 2 stays we preferred Vistana Villages over Vistana Resort. But that is like saying one prefers vanilla instead of chocolate...both are great.

The Lakes and Fountains are off by themselves and self contained (so to speak, therie own pools restaurants etc.) Although everyone who has stayed there absolutely loves it there.

We own in the Palms section. The first time we went to Vistana we borrowed our friends unit and stayed at the Courts. Although it is older. We just LOVED it there as it was centrally located to everything, although we walked the grounds constantly and went to every pool. The favorite in our house was the Super Pool.
I did enjoy sitting by the interactive sprinkles in the Cascades pool, the kids just had a blast getting me wet. But our overall fav is the Super Pool.

The playground is by the Courts Pool, which is practically right next to the Super Pool. Any section you stay in is located conveniently to basically everything. Some are just a further walk, but nothing is far and nothing is too far a walk.

If you have any specific questions, I would be more than happy to answer them.

Enjoy your trip
Joanna
