DD is only entering her junior year, but since I am off this summer (not sure what next summer will bring) we thought we'd get a little jump start and visit some colleges that were within driving distance from us. So yesterday we visited the University of Rhode Island and were very impressed. Colleges have come a long way since I attended. The facilities were wonderful (although a few needed sprucing up) and they have sooooo much to offer now than ever before. DD liked it too, :D but we probably will hold off until later to visit any more colleges.

After the tour we had a nice lunch on the water and spent a few hours at Naragansett Beach, which was beautiful. All in all, a great day.

Anyone have any experience with URI?

Hey! Shouldn't you be working?;) I will be PMing you later today, but anyway......how did you like Bryant? Is it a small college?

When I was growing up it was called URHIGH. A few people I work with went there and liked it.

It has a really good marine biology program and a great agriculture program as well...they do a lot of work for the County Extension Horticulture programs throughout RI and SEMass.

Bryant was nice...back when I went.
it's changed so much though...it's alot bigger then it was...and ever since it's been granted "University" status, its' really changed.

Dh graduated from there in 98, me in 99, my brother in 02. Even before I graduated, the college started to change (ie - bringing in a football team) and I didn't like it. I always like Bryant because it was small and the focus wasn't on athletics...the president of the college/university is changing that.

That's just my opinion though...I'm biased because I saw it like it was in the mid 90's. it's a very modern campus now...with the tuition bill to prove it! heheh

my niece will be going there in September!!! She's very excited! This was her first choice in colleges to study nursing. My brother and SIL went for the orientation and were very impressed with the campus. Back in the 70's my bro was interested in going but was not impressed at the time. I guess its changed a lot.
