Hello All,

Do you need to apply for a Visa if you have never been arrested but have 3 points on your driving licence for going through a red light (caught by a camera).

I don't think you do but cant find a definitative answer.

Thanks

This is taken directly from the website of the US Embassy:

In general, minor motoring offenses outside the U.S. that were disposed of by paying a ticket by mail have no bearing on admission to the United States. Travelers with minor traffic offenses that did not result in their arrest and/or conviction for the offense may travel visa free, provided they are otherwise qualified.

You can access the Visa Waiver Wizard here.

Not many would be allowed in would they?:rotfl2:
Although(touch wood) I have not had any points since 1987 most people I know have got at least 3.
DW thought she had been caught for speeding 2 weeks ago, mobile cam caught her doing 50 on a 40 dual carriageway, they get people there all the time its so slow for the road but we have not had anything thru the post yet.

She's got away with it then Wayne. They have to notify you within 14 days of their intention to charge you ;)

I have 6 points for speeding :scared1: nearly expired now but got into the US fine in December 2007.

Not quite, as long as the 'notice of intended prosecution' was sent within 14 days so that can mean a few more days for the postal service to deliver in.

Claire ;)

I knew it was something like that :)

She would be gutted to get points for speeding. For 24 years she has complained about my driving, constantly telling me to slow down. I was once pulled going 8 mph over the limit(on the same road she was speeding 2 weeks ago) but it was 3:45am and nothing on the roads so they gave me a warning, thankfully no points.

Hi Andrea, you will not need to apply for a visa for minor motoring offenses, which yours is.
