Hi ive always had american express travel cheques in dollars and they were excepted everywhere.Looking at marks and spencer rate and it looks the best rigth now 1.815, but they are visa cheques are these accepted the same way as Amex ones?

Cheers

You shouldn't have any problem using them, but I have heard that getting stolen/lost/damaged Visa TCs replaced is a lot more hassle/time-consuming than Amex. However, I have no first hand experience of this...

We used M&S visa cheques without any problems at all, they are just like cash.

M&S' rate is nearly as good as Travelex's but I have had a major falling out with them! Tried buying my TC's online, bank authorises transaction M&S decline the order(?). Go to buy TCs from Travelex order declined because M&S haven't told bank that they no longer need the money!! Call M&S got some waffle about how it will take 72 hours to release MY money back into MY account!! NOt a happy camper :furious:

We came back from our trip to America and Canada on sunday, we also got tc from M&S and had no trouble what so ever.

Decided to check out the Amex travel card and im been offered 1.86 on £400 or more, but im not sure about theses cards.I like to have dollars in my pocket so i would normally just cash a T cheque and use the change for bits and bobs. Can you get like a cash back type of thing with these cards or do i have to get cash from an atm which is £1.50 a time. How do you know whats left on it.Im sorry if these questions have been asked before but the search hasn't worked for the last few days.

I think it is just cash from an ATM with these :(

Where did you get offered that great rate of $1.86?

Hi miffy it was in thomson. They are also waiving the setup fee so its not bad but its not for me.I decided against the card because of atm fees and i do like to have a bit of cash. Its so easy to pay for a meal with a cheque and get your dollars.I ended up buying amex cheques from thomson at a rate of 1.815 which is still good.
Thanks for all the replies. :thumbsup2
