We are sailing next Friday on the Panama Canal cruise (fingers crossed!) and I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what they are doing to screen people for the virus. Are they checking passports and/or checking for fevers? Can we expect long lines to get into the terminal?

Thanks!

We embarked on 2/14 out of New Orleans. All they did was give us a questionnaire that asked about traveling to China or if we had close contact with someone who had been there and then looked though the passports.

Exactly the same when we embarked on 2/14 from Port Canaveral. One person from the cabin had to complete the questionnaire, and they checked every page of every person's passports. Our PAT was 10:45, and we didn't wait in a long line at all.

Hmm... probably better go review my passport. I have a valid Chinese VISA and some older stamps in there that I'm sure will get a second look.

We embarked 2/21 from port Canaveral. We had to sign a health questionnaire (which they always do except this one was specific to travel within China and the virus) they also checked passports for recent stamps and verbally confirmed with everyone in the party if they had traveled there or been in the close presence (family, caretakers etc)

I just received a detailed email from DCL discussing the steps that they are taking. They do mention screening. They state, "We are screening all guests before they board, and anyone who feels unwell or shows flu-like symptoms will not be permitted to sail."

We got that, too, for our cruise next week. I wonder if that just pertains to the normal part of the health questionnaire where they ask if you have had a fever or other symptoms in the past three days.

Say you have a fever and they don't allow you to sail, do you get a refund?

No. That's what trip insurance is for.

Thanks for answering.

Do you have knowledge that DCL isn't refunding passengers or just making assumptions?

RCL is giving a full refund to anyone that is denied boarding and I would be surprised if DCL wasn't doing the same.

Thanks for the info about RCL. Celebrity is also providing full refunds for people who have travelled to China in the last 15 days, but it was unclear to me what happens if you fail the health screening.

Normally, I believe they don't issue refunds. But in this situation, they would prefer to give you your money back to not penalize you for telling the truth.

We boarded last week on the Dream. Filled out a questionnaire for the cabin and that was it. We have Chinese visas and stamps in our passport but they didn’t even page thru it at all. We thought we would at least get a question about our trips to China but no. Our last trip there was a year ago, so no recent travel there but still. Surprised they didn’t even look at the passport.

You are the second person that posted that their passports were not checked. The other at the port in New Orleans.
