Virtual Queue Practice from Home?

Hi all,

I've never done the virtual queue at DL, only at WDW in Florida. Prior to that trip, I was able to practice the virtual queue signup from home. Is it more or less the same at DL? I tried for the first time this morning, and I got to this screen.

At Hollywood Studios, there was a "Not So Fast" screen that had basically the same info--we couldn't proceed during practice runs because we didn't have a park reservation for that day. Is this the equivalent for DL, and does it mean that, if there, I would have succeeded?

Just trying to increase my odds in a few weeks. We really want to try web slingers!

Thanks!

Having tried and failed to get ROR today I can tell you that it will list your party there and then tell you to refresh at 7:00. I was hitting refresh over and over and then it finally went to checking groups and them telling me there were no more groups.

That's what I liked about doing this at WDW, all our party was preselected--just had to click through all the "Join" buttons as fast as possible.

This morning, I went to the "Virtual Queues" then clicked "Join Virtual Queue" at 7 am on the dot. Again, drawing on past experience at WDW, refreshing took valuable seconds vs. clicking "Join Virtual Queue" exactly at the drop time.

Thanks I will try it that way tomorrow when we try for Webslingers. Not overly stressed about that one as it is standby during OBB. We are pretty disappointed about ROTR- we are huge Star Wars fans- especially DD- and we have never ridden ROTR because the only time we have been to Galaxy’s Edge was before the ride opened. Paid for WiFi on the plane to try this morning as I heard they will honor the boarding group late. We will probably just miss getting there in time to try at noon. Figure our chances on Friday will be even less as it will probably be more crowded. Fingers crossed we get lucky.

Nope- didn’t help -shut out of Webslingers this morning. Our friends who were here yesterday got shut out yesterday morning, but got it at noon- so I guess we will try that and at least can waste party time and ride it during OBB if we have to. As much as I am not thrilled about pay per ride- I would gladly pay to get on ROTR or Webslingers right now because they are priorities for DD since we have never done either and it isn’t looking good. The parks were packed yesterday- more crowded than when we come in summer and the lines were long for everything. Maybe that is part of the problem.

Bummer! Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I feel you as I was there Sun-Tues…only made it on Webslingers once. Was shut out of Rise all three times we tried (once we got a back up group that was never called). And shut out of Webslingers the other time we tried.
This wasn’t my first trip as we had the same failures in June (we did get to ride Rise and Web once each).

How are you doing it? You should use a countdown clock so you know right when it will be turning 7 or 12 and immediately hit Refresh then Join. You can confirm your party up to an hour before so that should already be done. Have everyone in your group with a phone try at the same time. If one gets it, the others will just show an error. It is also better to be on your cellular network than WiFi. Those strategies worked for us at the end of September to get BGs for both. It was helpful because on our OBB day WS was down almost the entire party. RotR is definitely a can't miss experience.

Thanks- used a countdown clock which I also verified was exactly in sync with my phone- iPhone 11 Pro. Turned off WiFi. Checked internet speed and it was fine. Just 3 of us in the party and I was using DH phone for the countdown clock. DD was still asleep. I think I am just very unlucky. I’m usually good at this type of stuff.

When you click to join the virtual queue, say for Webslingers, does the next screen already have all the tickets in your App account selected? Or do I have to select them all and then hit the second "join" button? Hoping for just a few clicks instead of being penalized for having a family.

Starting one hour before each time (6AM for the 7AM drop and 11AM for the noon drop), you can confirm your party. It usually auto-selects all the tickets with reservations for that day but just make sure. After that, a refresh button appears at the bottom of the page. If you hit that button after the drop time (7AM or noon), it'll change into a button that allows you to join the queue.

You can confirm your party up to an hour in advance. Then you just need to click Refresh, if you have done it at the right time it changes to Join, and you hit Join. Then hopefully you have secured a BG. There are no extra clicks to book for multiple people.

And we are in the building and can see the ride cars and it broke down and it looks like we are getting ready to be evacuated.

I don’t think you need to practice, it’s pretty straightforward. Just be sure you confirm your group in the hour before, hit Join Virtual Queue right before, then press Refresh repeatedly.

Also timing for 7 exactly isn’t necessary in my experience. We started Refreshing when we thought it was getting close (no timer) and got boarding groups every time. So a few seconds early is fine (but not late).

We got passes to come back if it reopened before the park closed for OBB- went back to the room and out costumes on and by the time we got back it was back open and we got to “fast pass” into the building which was great since we had waited about 30 minutes the first time. Now- fingers crossed for ROTR tomorrow.

What we figured out on reopening day is that it only worked for us to use an atomic clock on one phone and the app on the other phone. Other countdown clocks are off by fractions of a second, and that matters. Good luck! :genie:

I will give you some hope. We went in on CM passes last week, so we had no tickets pre-loaded before park opening so a no go at 7am.

Then at noon, I had totally forgotten about it. So around 12:05 I remembered, scanned all 7 tickets into my phone and named them and was still able to get an afternoon boarding group for Web Slingers. So it can be done!
