Virtual New Year's Eve Party

I have never had a cyber Hogmanay before - you better all remember your lumps of coal and shortbread if you are visiting me :lmao: :lmao:

Military, Counter Terrorism division for the Dept. of Homeland Security. I'm not sure how fun it is, but it's definitely not boring! :thumbsup2

very cool- stay safe out there......i just left over 5 years working for defense contractors (Raytheon, L-3 and DRS)- I specifically worked in thermal imaging, night vision, combat ID and lasers for HLS, military and all govt agencies. a few years back- DH and I got to see the Knights Armament owner's private gun collection in Titusville and that was awesome- only second to the Queen of England's collection. :thumbsup2

now i market liposuction and medical lasers- quite the jump.......lol:confused3 :rotfl:

Since I'm culturally backward, and have to assume many of my fellow Americans are the same, and I had to look up ALL of Jackie's cultural holiday references today....I figured I'd post the Wikipedia version of what she's talking about (in her lovely Scot accent)...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hogmanay

I just discovered that my birthday is a public holiday in Scotland...I know where I want to be in 2011!!!

When is your birthday Mindy?

Jan. 2...in 2011 I turn 50. I want it to be a good one. What better place to be than in a country that is on holiday for my birthday? That way I can pretend that EVERYONE is celebrating my birthday.

Instead of here, where everyone is just hung over and sick of holidays on my birthday...

Interesting. I've probably used some of your equipment. The night vision...not the lipo! :lmao: :lmao:

You might find that everyone is hung over here as well - if you are here in 2011 I will throw you a big party Mindy

Geez, I guess I'm not alone. I work in thermal imaging for one of the companies not listed above.

Paul - you probably don't hear it enough, but thank you for the work you do. You're in a job where no news is good news, and that's not easy. I've been looking at some DHS opportunities up here in New England. Seems like the funding is pretty safe even when defense budgets are getting cut in other places.

stay safe. I bet you will have some good stories in the morning? :rotfl: hopefully I'll see Alicia on here tonight

lol- very cool- small world.....after all.....:rotfl:
I mainly was involved in uncooled handheld units. It's a pretty small, incestual group- :rotfl: thermal imaging, so I bet we know some of the same folks, since everyone tends to hop around between all the players.

Thanks Kevin and Mindy for the tips! :thumbsup2

I don't drink but do LOVE Brownies (soft center parts), cake, and cookies, in that order! :rotfl:

Oooooooooowwww! I'm going to try to come. My family has been very sick, puking and all that since Christmas Eve (that has NOT been any fun). The puking has finally subsided, so hopefully I can make up for a crappy Christmas by visiting with some of my favorite people in chat tonight. I'm so glad to have some type of festive plans. Being sick throughout the holidays canceled most of the party plans we had the past couple weeks, so this is a very good thing. Hopefully, DH won't spoil the fun and pull me away from chat.

I've been MIA lately but I am going to try and make chat for awhile tonight! I'm watching the nieces and nephews, but they've got a brand new Wii that I'm hoping will keep them entertained enough that they won't catch Auntie sneaking onto the computer for a little DIS chat! :woohoo:
