Virtual Imagineer (Florida): What would you do with Epcot?

Play the role of an imagineer. Let's come up with a feasible plan for Epcot that would take the park where the idealists on this board would have it go. Let's hear it!

Sigh, it really is like the old Rumors board.

Let's play Imagineer.

Anyway, this one is simple.
Go back to a fixed plan to remodel the future world attractions on an approximate 10 year schedule. And get rid of dumb stuff like Nemo and Ellen.

EPCOT needs some excitement in the middle. ie, space ship earth and inoventions. These have made progress but a not what one would call attractions.

A roller coaster?, maybe a rumoured ride (water ride?) at Canada. Need at least two new countries - even if just Alaska and Dom Republic . Also, perfect place for a NEW Adventurers Club...

I love EPCOT. Loved the millenium parade. Place just needs an update on the "something new around each turn". DD

That's OK, no "new" rumors anyway....
What would be nice would be a ride at EVERY country. That would bring people out in droves. They already have the space for one in Germany.
Did I say bring in droves of people? We don't need no stinkin' droves of people, there are enough bodies on property already........never mind.

I would like to see a Russia pavillion or a mt. fuji ride for the Japan pavillion. And Disney needs to do something to the Wonders of Life Pavillion in Future World.

Something needs to be done with the Wonders of Life pavilion. I don't like seeing it when I am in the park and knowing that they only use it during special events. If they can't come up with something to do with that area, they should demolish the building and do some landscaping to make it seem like nothing was there. Also they should do something with the Odyssey building, possibly refurbish it and create a new table service restaurant. This goes without saying the whole Imagination pavilion needs an overhaul and the Imagination Institute needs to be shown the door and Dreamfinder brought back in.

They need to completely lose Ellen's Energy Adventure. In my opinion, it is the worst ride in all of WDW. I also like the idea of rides at each pavilion.

Replace Wonders of Life with an attraction such as StormRider and add 2 or 3 countries to the WS over the next 10 years

I know alot of people who lke Ellen's ride... but anyways in Epcot alot of people probably dont even go to Inoventions unless they know more about the parks, but I've always enjoyed that. I dont really think it would be possible to make more rides in the countries, because I dont really like the rides in the countries anyways. They are just so... boring. Its not really Disney's fault though, they do alot to show people what the countries are all about. kids dont like Epcot as much, and I didn't until I was a little older. Now they have the Finding Nemo's Seas and Soarin, as well as Test Trac, so it makes is more kid friendly and they are not as bored. Im not exactly sure what I would add to Epcot, probably another kid and adult friend attraction would be nice.

I know a lot of people who really hate it. They should have left it the way it was. Adding Ellen and Bill Nye added nothing.

I really like the rides in each country idea! The movies are nice but I would love a little more excitement.

I like Ellen but the ride is boring. Not because of Ellen, it is because the ride and movies are SO LONG. I would shorten it and make it more fun! It is like you are trapped in that building for a hour!

I like the WS the way it is. Laid back. However, a new ride/attraction or 2 would be fine especially if it meant new nations

I also like the old ideas of a gondala ride for Italy and a boat ride thru Germany landmarks

I agree. As they say:If it ain't broke, don't fix it. A gondola ride for Italy would be really cool.

How can anyone imagine that they are going to do anything significant to improve EPCOT when they can't even be bothered to take the sign of the long dead Odyssey Restaurant.

I assume they leave the sign on it because they do use it for special events and need a name for the location. Can't just call it "the ugly brown building on the water". Not that the building is ugly. More that the brown is ugly and the windows seem to look like moisture has gotten between the panes of glass.

Yea, the building could at least use some refurbishment. "ugly brown building on the water," good one! But then again, Disney wouldn't spend the money to make a sign with that many words in it...
By the way, Dixie Luvr 98, we are all proud of your Son the Marine. We all appreciate the job he is doing serving his country

Its funny, as I walked through the park yesterday I thought to myself "Why the heck dont they take down that Odyssey sign." The explanation makes sense, but the area does need some work.

As far as the topic at hand, I also think the entrance needs some work. Take out the giant tombstones. Another country would be nice, but it wont happen. Although Dubai does seem to be throwing a lot of money around, so perhaps they would be interested in sponsoring one. My guess, however, is that a new pavillion for the UAE wouldnt be a big draw.
