Virtual Imagineer (Florida): What would you do with Epcot?

I would add countries and rehab some of what they have. UK needs more. Maybe aerial movie that includes Scotland, England and Wales. Maybe a haunted castle experience? Rides at Italy and Germany sound great!

Definitely agree with need to do something at Wonders of Life.

Also get rid of Ellen and Bill Nye at Universe of Energy as others have said. It is FUTURE WORLD. I would like something that tells me how I can make home improvements (realistic now) to improve my energy consumption. Personal wind turbine sounds awesome!! With modern day concerns about fuel and energy this attraction needs to be top-notch! Not sure how.....

Epcot is our family favorite park. Keep scrucing up and updating!! Don't let it be all about shops

Personal wind turbine sounds

I'm sorry, but this made me laugh hysterically. It's a great idea, but my eyes and my mind took it out of context. Thank you. I was having a so-so day and this made it wonderful. Back to being a grown-up, now.

I love the idea of something with Wall-E, then they'd have a character attraction (which some seem to want) while still fitting the "theme" of Future World.
I agree, another country would be fantastic. Personally, I'd love to see India or Thailand. Also, adding a small dark ride into WS, don't even care for what country, but maybe something like Storybook Canal Rides where you see different major landmarks of that country in miniature.

My overhaul of EPCOT would include:

FUTURE WORLD

1. A complete re-imagining of Imagination which would have Walt Disney (in virtual form) as the pavilion's host. This could be the new home of Walt Disney One Man's Dream as well as a new ride featuring Figment. The current incarnation just doesn't work anymore (my apologies to Eric Idle)

2. Besides the fact that the pavillion needs some updating, can we PLEASE get Ellen out of Energy? Bill Nye's presence didn't upset me that much, but perhaps we need a new approach here... This pavillion was nearly deserted when my wife, myself and three other people were spread across the two mammoth vehicles that ran on our tour. Perhaps a focus on innovations in "green" technologies would be a start... I still like the animatronic dinos at the beginning. Those guys can stay!

3. Speaking of "green", more greenspace is needed in Future World. When I was there in March, I noticed it looked like a stark field of shaped concrete. Maybe some imaginative plantings would give guests some visual contrast and a much-needed respite from the sun!

4. I'd like to see a return of the Wonders of Life but I'm not too sure how that pavilion could be revamped. I do miss Body Wars and Cranium Command!

WORLD SHOWCASE

1. Finally build a pavillion at the Outpost! Russia and Brazil would be intriguing additions to the lineup. I also saw that no one mentioned Spain which was so far along in the planning stages at one time that a coming soon sign was posted in WS. I'm guessing Spain was scrapped because Disney did not want WS to be Euro-dominated... I sure would welcome a Brazillian Steakhouse as well as a Carnaval celebration nightly!

2. Gondolas in Italy would add a romantic touch to WS, especially in the evening hours!

3. A log flume attraction would add a nice dimension to that area of WS since that side of the lagoon has no rides whatsoever!

I think this is were Disney can build their new park.

Bite your tongue and slap yourself in the face! :faint: This is my favorite park, and I'm sure many others would agree that if a tear-down was even suggested we would fling ourselves under the bulldozers before we saw it detroyed. How dare you!

It was just a suggestion, there is a lot of things that I really enjoy about the park, but there is a lot that needs fixed. They have so much room to do cool things they just need to do it. It needs a major facelift.

One thing I really miss is the Millenium Village (hope that was the right name!) - I loved the small exhibit areas from other countries and the food stands they had available. I wish that it had stayed.

I am not sure if it has been mentioned, but I would have some sort of shuttle or skybuckets that takes people from the main gate to the border of future world/countries. Man that is a long walk some days! LOL.

That is true, it is a pretty long walk- especially if its the end of the day and you just want to go see Illuminations lol. With big groups or just people who have a hard time keeping up, it would be a nice addition. I just dont know if it would mess up the scenery or anything. I wonder how they would do that.

How about moving sidewalks like those used in many airports? They would certainly help shorten that long walk. Another option could be something along the lines of the people mover in MK.

Of course we can always mention another monorail! :rotfl:

I got it!!

I would do a Horizons II. Epcot is just not the same without it. I would add Dreamfinder back to the Imagination ride. How about having Journey To The Center Of The Earth ride at Epcot. Like the one in Tokyo. That is an awesome ride.

Rip out Mission Space and Test track to make room for these new rides. Those rides just don't have the Disney magic. Back in the World Showcase you can add some cool dark rides to the countries without a ride.

Mission Space OK, but I do like Test Track a lot myself. I would like Mission Space more if they kept some of the grander plans like the special effects when you leave the ride to make it feel like you are on Mars. Or perhaps add a planetitarium

I like both of the rides, but Test Track is getting kind of old, but I go on that ride so much when we go that I memorized what happens and where all the hidden Mickey's are and everything.
It would be nice if they at least redid Test Track a bit, does it ever get renovated? It doesn't seem as magical as all the other rides at Disney World, but I do enjoy it. You would have to have an awesome idea for a ride to replace it if you were.

I know, but I felt like a little drama that day. :upsidedow

**I also wanted to add that I was very disappointed in the changes to the ride in Mexico and the travesty that is entry ride to "The Nemo Seas". I felt both attractions were insipid and were much better before the re-theming. I do like rumors I have read here about a bullet train-themed ride for Japan... interesting stuff!

EPCOT is by far my favorite park. I love the history and atmosphere of the WS, and personally, the only thing I would to it is add a few more pavillions (definitely Greece, as that would be just a beautiful one) and spruce up the older ones. Probably do a little more with Italy, just add something else to it; I'm just not sure what. It just isn't as full as it could be.

For the UK pavillion, however, I do have a couple of ideas. They should add one of the tea cabbie's stands. The little green buildings where traditionally cabbies would stop at for a traditional English breakfast, and where people can come and order tea. I think that would be a cool addition. And then there's something to do with Wimbeldon. A little area where the competition would be shown while it was going on, and a stand for strawberries and cream. During the rest of the time it could be an homage to sports throughout the UK or something of that sort.

As for the rides in WS, I'm not sure. Definitely nothing too thrilling; I love the WS for it's laid back atmosphere, and adding huge rides would take away from that.

Future World? No offense to anyone who likes them, but I'm just not a huge fan of the attractions being tailored to Disney movies. Nemo completely taking over was rather a disappointment to me, although I am a fan of Crush's Turtle Talk. I'm not saying completely eliminate it, but tone it down a tad, please?

And it's true that Future World isn't as high-tech as one might expect. I really like the ideas of the more "green" technology that others have mentioned. With a fun, Disney twist, that really has potential.

A lot needs to be done. Move the tombstones and put figment under them. I have to believe there are plans in the works for Odyssey and WoL. Very un-Disney like to leave them to rot in plain sight. Pavillions for Brazil, Greece, Russia or India would be great. Innoventions not a favorite either. The idea for the Wall-E ride to replace WoL would be a great fit in future world. More tame rides for World Showcase in due time.

A WALL-E ride? I love Wall-e and all, but im kind of getting mad at the whole Pixar attractions thing. I love them and all, but I wish they would be a little more original and come up with some new stuff that is not Pixar first. Last couple of new rides (besides Expedition Everest) are Pixar right?
