I Have spoken to Virgin today regarding the "Do we or dont we lock our luggage", I have been assured by Virgin that its okay to lock luggage, they assured me, unless the case looked very suspect only then would they open it, but first the luggage would be taken to one side and the owner found, the lock on the case wouldnt be hacked off!!.
hope this alays everybody fears.

It certainly does. We only bought new cases last year;)

Thanks

When we came back from Orlando with Virgin 3 weeks ago there were more than 1 or 2 that had been opened. They obviously hadn't tried that hard to find the owners. I'd take their advise with a large pinch of salt.

SidB, im using cable ties on my bag just incase, but Im gonna double check, once I hit checkin just to be sure, if they say its okay to lock the cases I can quickly use a cable tie. The virgin lady had said she doesnt know of any case where suitcases had been hacked open, I guess it s a small price to pay for security!.
