Virgin transfer

Hi - I have booked with Virgin Holidays and not taken the hire car but gone with the transfers instead. Has anyone got any experience of this? Will the transfer be on disney magical express or a separate coach. we are staying at POR - will we have to go round loads of other hotels first?

We used the transfers several times and they were always fine. It won't be on the magical express coach, it will be with Mears, they are often Disney coaches though. You will drop off at a couple of other Disney hotels but it doesn't take long, plus it means you get to have a little nose at what the other hotels look from the outside!!

It will usually be on a separate coach with only uk people but as both ME and virgin transfers are operated by mears it is possible it will be either a ME bus or a disney cruise line one.

With virgin transfers you have to take your luggage with you

thanks for the quick replies. so what is the difference with the disney magical express then and how do you book this? is it better?

as we have gone with the transfers does this also mean that there would be no point in doing the DTD check in?

Disney magical express is operated by disney direct and they will collect your luggage for you and deliver it to your room for you, although I think I read they have just stopped this for international visitors. Basically the service you get will be the same.

As fro DTD check in we always do that as you get rid of your luggage early in the day adn means you don't have to be at the airport quite so early.

re. DTD check in - I see the benefit of getting rid of luggage early but I would need to depart for the airport at the coach pick up time anyway wouldnt i? I was thinking I would have no control over the time of departure if using the transfer service??

Virgin will give you the phone number of mears, who operate the bus transfer, and if you do DTD check in you can phone and change your pick up time to later.

If you use DTD check in then you can get a later transfer, Virgin will give you a bit of paper with the info on, you get the later transfer from DTD

No don't have any links but just remember reading it somewhere, although maybe I'm getting it mixed up with international visitors just not getting the tags sent to them.

Found it and I misunderstood, seems as long as you land before 10pm they will take your luggage. Found this on a thread on the dibb

heres the info from disney:

Reserve Disney's Magical Express Transportation when you book online or by calling (407) WDW-MAGIC or (407) 939-6244. Guests under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian's permission to call.

International Guests flying into Orlando International Airport from another country must follow the U.S. Customs and Border Protection process and claim luggage after disembarking the plane. After completing the process, proceed to the Disney's Magical Express Welcome Center in the Main Terminal Building, B side, Level 1. Disney's Magical Express service will recollect your luggage and deliver it directly to your Walt Disney World hotel room within 4 hours after you check in at the resort. Luggage delivery service provided by Disney's Magical Express is available for flights arriving between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm daily. For airport arrivals after 10:00 pm, Guests may collect their luggage at Baggage Claim and transport it with them on the motor coach.

Sit back and relax as Disney transports you to your Disney Resort hotel in an air-conditioned motor coach.

As your vacation draws to a close, you'll receive a Transportation Notice advising you of the pick-up time and place for your motor coach ride back to Orlando International Airport. Please note that it is your responsibility to bring your luggage to the pick-up point.
