Virgin theme park tickets

I think there was a thread in the last couple of weeks on 21 day park tickets where it was suggested that being a member of Virgin Frequent Flyer club resulted in a 10% discount on theme park tickets? Also I think it mentioned paying a deposit and balance later?

Just phoned Virgin call centre

a) initally was told no discount available
b) later in conversation was told FF got 10% discount if spending more than £1500
c) later still was told that anyone spending over £1500 got 10% disc
d) When enquiring about whether payment had to be made in full I was advised yes and I could do it on the web page. Explained that the web site for booking tickets had not been working all week.
E) later in conversation was told a deposit of £120 was needed. I asked where on the web sitye I could fnd this detail and was directed to go the Excursions and he asked which excursion I wanted....I didn't even mention excursions :furious:
f) At this popint I politley expressed my concern about the continued confluicting advice ( and that I had spoken with Virign in the week who had satated a 10% FF doscount was due)
g) The advisor, in the call centre, stated that I needed to speak to reservations; Though I was i responded, no apparantly it was Customer services (sorta funny in a perverse way!)
h) explained I had selected reservations and that this is where I ended up
i) Ok put me through to reservations...can't do that sir as they close at 6pm
j) phoned Flying CLub who advised I was entitled to NO discount at all

Are you trying to add tickets onto an existing booking or are you just trying to buy tickets?
 
Also I think to get the FVC discount it used to be that the tickets had to be added in the initial booking, if added later they did not get the discount.

I booked my Virgin holiday in early May online and got the 5% discount. I quoted my Frequent Flying Club(FFC) no. on the booking for the miles but later learnt on these boards that I should get a 10% FFC discount applied to my booking within about 30 days.:thumbsup2

In the interim, I was also sent a letter & membership card from Virgin telling me that I had qualified as a member of the Frequent Virgin Club(FVC). I'm sure I also read that this club also qualifies for a 10% discount booking and figured that if I didn't get 10% off my holiday for the FFC then maybe I might be able to get 10% off theme park tickets (which I've yet to book) with Virgin.

I e-mail the FVC to ask the question & they responded & confirmed that I should get 10% off my holiday with the FFC no. and that my booking has now been updated to reflect this. :) They also confirmed that the 10% discount benefit will be discontinued wef 1/7/08 for FFC members though. I was also told that if I added my theme park tickets onto my booking now then they would also be subject to the 10% discount.

The FVC entitles me to no discount on future bookings though as this is a benefits only club. Is this indeed the case? Seems strange.

The only problem now is trying to add on theme park tickets as this part of the web site has not been working for ages.:confused3 I'm really not keen on phoning the call centre to attempt this.:headache:
 

thanks for replies, I suppose my rant was more about the rubbish customer service rather than the discount I may or may not have been entitled to.

Just for background I have no existing booking with VH and was enquiring as to any discount I might get in just buying the tickets from them.

Anyway, having phoned Virign again today I was initially told that it was not possible to buy just theme park tickets, another new peice of conflicting advice :confused3 I questioned this and was then advised that actually I could.

Basically you can get 10% discount with FF up till end of this month when part of a holiday package or FD but not as a stand alone purchase. Contrary to advice received yesterday, even if spending over £1500 on tickets there is still no discount; the £1500 applies to holidays only.

I figured out that given on each of the three calls I have had conflicting advice, and on one call alone 3 conflicting statements, if there were sufficient days left in the month, if I rang enough times, on the law of averages I would find someone who would offer 10 % discount as one of the possible responses to my question :lmao:
 
I think there is some confusion surrounding the Frequent Flyers Club which is operated by Virgin Atlantic and the Frequent Virgin Club which is operated by Virgin Holidays.
The earlier threads over the last couple of weeks regarding discounted theme park tickets have referred to the FVC. If you are an existing member and joined before they revamped the club last year then you are entitled to 10% off everything apart from fuel supplements etc. If you have only just joined then the 10% discount will not apply to you as the club offers things like free parking and airport hotels etc instead now.
If you are a member then you have a dedicated FVC hotline for bookings and enquiries and is much easier to book with than the normal booking line.
I have no idea what the FFC offers but they are not the same thing, so I imagine being a member of the FFC won't do you much good booking through VH.
I've had no problem at all in the last few weeks booking holiday and park tickets and getting my 10% off. Last time we went we got 10% off Discovery Cove too, as I said, it covers all theme park tickets.
Just remembered it also covers park and stay packages too.
 
I have a question regarding Virgin tickets but instead of posting a new thread, I'm going to post the question here.

I have recently booked a vacation package with Virgin Holidays and also booked a 7 day Disney ticket, and I was just wondering if you recieve them before you depart or if you have to pick them up at the hotel?
 
You'll get a voucher with your tickets about 2 weeks before you leave. If you are staying at a Disney resort hotel you will be able to exchange these vouchers on check in and add them to your Key to the World card. If not, you exchange them at the guest relations desk at any of the parks or at Downtown Disney I believe. It only takes a minute or two to exchange them.

Will they do this if your voucher is booked through another company? We've booked a Virgin holiday for 2009 and didn't get the tickets (with hindsight we should have bought them with 10% discount). There is no way I'm going to try to amend my booking with Virgin as that seems to be when problems start.

And if you have a 14 day pass does it start from when it is put on your key or when you go to your first park?
 
It doesn't matter who you booked your ticket through, as long as you present the voucher at check in they will add it to your key to the world card.
I think the 14 days will start from first use but am not entirely sure, perhaps someone else can confirm this.
