HI all can anyone tell me if they have used a skycot with a child slightly older than the 12 months it recommends on the virgin website? Ava will be 15 months when we fly but still a baby really and would like to have somewhere where she could have a nap! Thankyou in advance! x

Our grandson was 6 months old when he used a Skycot last year and he could only just fit in it!

They are on a first-come, first served basis and I suspect that they will only book them for 12 months and under for that reason, but others will probably come along with a definite answer.

The ones on the LGW-MCO route have a maximum weight of 9kg. They will not allow children over this weight to use them.

Some flights have a slightly bigger skycot that goes up to a maximum weight of 11Kg. These are limited and cannot be pre-booked (so i was told when we booked our flights this year :) )

my girls are 18 months and we cant have a skycot even though theya re small as they are twins!

by the way love the name Ava!

arh! never mind will have to suffer then! ;) !!
thanks orangetigs you have good tast also!! lol My ava was nearly Ava Lily but went with Ava Grace! xx your twins r beautiful i bet flying with two toddlers is hard work i am dreading flying with my four!! lol!

we flew when Izzy was 14 months and she had one, but she was a prem and 3 months early and was only 11 lbs at 1, so looked tiny still, was only in 3- 6 month clothes, she fitted fine, but a normal size 6- 8 month would struggle to fit in one as there not very long.

Ive put a request in for one for Connie, notsure if she will fit in it, but thought it best to request one "just incase"!!!

P.S your "Ticker" is very like mine:thumbsup2

i know paula!! lol! your connie should be fine as she will be under 12 months no luck for me! i cant understand y you have to pay for a baby that sits on ur lap doesnt eat or drink???

I no :confused3, suppose the only good thing is that they do get a baggage allowance now;)

Have you been at Christmas before?

Is was actually what swung it for me to go with ba last time. There sky cots go up to 2 years and my 20 month sat and slept fine in it. The flights were pretty similiar price but the sky cot made all the difference for me otherwise i would have had to got her a seat as there is no way she would have been happy on our laps and she def wouldnt have slept very well if at all on laps. Hope you manage ok and fingers crossed there will be some spare seats

Virgins sky cots are around 12 months only weighing no mire than9 kg and no longer than 76cm in lenght

Our youngest DS was 5 months, when he went in it - at that age he was almost too big. Spent the whole trip nervous it was all going to collapse! I was under the impression they give them out in age order, youngest 1st - that's what I was informed when I rang up anyway!
